Feeling a little bummed...

I just ended a chat session with one of Amazon's Kindle specialists. He was trying to help me troubleshoot the issues I've been having with my Kindle Fire since last night. I picked it up and it wouldn't turn on. My daughter was using it to explore some of the free apps I've downloaded for her recently, and I figured the battery had died. It was on the charger all night and it still wouldn't turn on this morning. Resetting didn't work, either. So John walked me through the troubleshooting steps I'd already tried again, then had me try to force it to boot in recovery mode. Nada. Amazon doesn't repair Kindles, so that, as they say, is that. I've been offered a discount on another 3rd generation Fire, but I'd have to downgrade to an 8 GB version or upgrade to the HDX model, which won't fit in my Origami case. I passed for now, but John told me that he's noted my account and all I need to do is contact support when I decide to buy a new Kindle and they'll arrange the replacement for me. The really ridiculous thing is that I have at least three other tablets that will run the Kindle app, so I don't need to replace it right now... but it's just not the same. Guess you never realize how much you love something until it's gone, huh?

Sorry about your kindle. I am not sure if I love my kindle enough. Since I downloaded the app on my tablet I have not used it.. I find the tab multi functional.. The only thing I don't like is the weight of the tablet.

I have my laptop and it has the kindle app. If It were not working properly I'd probably have a hissy fit three ways from sunday.

I used to use the Kindle for PC software, but there's so many other things I do on my computer that I wouldn't be able to focus on the book I'm reading. I'd probably be here posting, not reading my book.

I usually use my tablet but my husband has a Kindle which he uses a lot. I don't mind using the tablet unless you want to read in the sunlight or in the dark. Not good for that.

Hm... there is a bright side in all this! My old Kindle didn't have the same glare-proof screen that the new ones are supposed to have.
