How do you get rid of mosquitoes?

I really wish the mosquitoes will leave my house. I don't really mind being bitten by them, but whenever my little girl was bitten by mosquitoes, she woke up in the middle of the night, and didn't fall asleep easily. I always have to wake up and comfort her until she finally falls asleep. I always don't get enough sleep if there are mosquitoes in the room, and get sick (headache) easily, as I need to get up very early to do my work. I feel sad when my little girl can't sleep well too. Do you have many mosquitoes over there? Do you have any methods to get rid of them?

We have installed screen/mesh on our windows so that mosquitoes can't get inside our house easily. They have to wait for the door to open to be able to get inside, lol! Though it's not a guarantee to keep the house mosquito free, but it does help a lot.

My mum also always suggested me to install the window screen, but we do not really like the idea, as the screen also blocks the wind from blowing into the house, right? But, yes, I agree that it'll keep the mosquitoes to minimal. Thank you for sharing this.

@Magnolia74 Yes, I think for safety of the children, we will just do it. I didn't know dengue virus is very serious in Philippines. Glad that the window screens work well for you. So how do you get rid of the mosquitoes if you go outside at night?

@kaka135 I wasn't very much in favor of the window screen as well, same reason. But dengue virus has taken its toll on children in our country and I have kids.. so I have to bear with it.

Do you have mosquito repellent? I have mosquito repellents that I hang in my house and they kill mosquitoes as soon as they fly over there. I literally see them drop to the floor as soon as they fly into the vicinity of the repellent.

Is it the electrical repellent? We used to have one but it's spoiled. I didn't know if it's effective, but it seems like we should go and get a new one. Thanks.

We have screen all around the house but mosquitoes can still invade. It is just quite hard to exterminate them completely specially during the rainy season. I am using mosquitoes swatter to kill them and it has been helpful to some extent.

I have a manual mosquito swatter - my husband. I can't easily catch the mosquitoes by myself, so I usually ask my husband to catch them if we found any mosquitoes in the room before we sleep. It seems like it's the rainy season here, so there are many mosquitoes flying around.

I hate mosquitoes, it isn't common where I live but when my sister lived near a lagoon.. she had lots! She didn't do anything to stop them but just shuts the door quickly when she goes in the house. I believe you can buy these lights that you turn on and mosquitoes don't like them. Or asian scent? I'm not quite sure.. but I hope you resolved it by now as this is a later post.

We just close the door of the bedroom before evening, and always get it shut as soon as possible. My little girl always wants to apply the essential oil, sometimes I apply the mosquito repellent essential oil, sometimes I just apply the lavender, it seems like my little girl just feels comfortable with the oil, but I am not sure if they are effective or not. Some nights she still wake up because of mosquito bites, but sometimes not. I still haven't find where to buy those electric mosquito killers yet, it seems like the mosquitoes will be attracted to the light, and the light will kill them.

Today , before i left the house , i had my husband vacate the bedroom and be at the dining room already to eat . That's because i sprayed the bedroom with mosquito spray . It has been bugging me the other night , that's why .

This is really one last thing I'd try. I just can't stand with the smell. My mum used to spray when I was young, but I just didn't like it. Perhaps it's really effective.

Thanks. Perhaps I should just get one, so I don't need to always ask my husband to catch the mosquito manually. I am feeling really tired and sleepy now, as I have been disturbed by mosquito bites the whole night. I am glad my little girl was not disturbed by the mosquito.
