When I traveled in the United States I have noticed that fish is less popular than meat, turkey and chicken. I am Italian and I like fish, almost any kind of fish and shellfish. Today I have bought fresh shrimps. I am going to serve them for dinner, but I have not yet decided how to prepare them. Do you have a favorite recipe to prepare shrimps? The photo is mine, cod with tomatoes and black olives.

I also prefer big fish because of the bones. Curried fish is good, but I have to avoid too spicy food and I know that fried food is not the best for our health... but it's delicious.

Fish and crabs and clams and lobster are very popular in this part of the US, but it is because there is a large local fishing industry. I don't really like fish very much, but I do serve some kind of fish at least once a week or so. I like beef and turkey best, chicken is alright but it tastes like chicken, you know?

Yes, chicken tastes like chicken. Lobsters and crabs are very expensive here, they come from the US and Canada. In Italy there are shrimps, clams and mussels and one of my favorite fish, the swordfish, it's just like a big steak without bones.

I hopped on here reading "Fish" on the title. Yes, I love that - fish and even shrimps (we call them prawns, here). Whatever, The dish that you have on the image looks quite Yummy and healthy - as you have black olives too along with COD. In most of Indian community, we prefer to have fish (and shrimps) as a curry with lots of spices. As I am barred from taking any spices, I have it fried or even baked. However my favorite when it comes to shrimp is shrimps in coconut water. Normally, they make it sweet, but I prefer to have it salty with pepper added. The COD that is available here, is a little expensive and also has a strong smell. But I know, it is quite a very good thing for health due to O3 and Anti-Oxidants. The black olives - I have not found them around in the local market. The ones that are in jars (packed) are imported and hence beyond my reach.

@LadyDuck Yes, we follow British English here in India as English is not our native language. I dont know too much about Italian food, but going by what I have seen on Tele (at my dad's place) or even the recipes, it seems, that they have a great nourishing food set.

I love fish and I prepare fish almost three times a week. I see that in India use use British English, I remember that shrimps are called prawns in England. I like them prepared with coconut. I buy the black olives in Italy, I am only at 5 km from the Italian border. They are very inexpensive there and my husband loves olives.

@thesids Now doctors have discovered that the Mediterranean diet is good four our health. Italians eat Mediterranean from centuries, fish, olives, vegetables, pasta and bread, it's good food.

@LadyDuck Where do you usually have sushi and sashimi? I guess Japanese food is popular enough to have at least one restaurant in all the world's major cities.

@Cristi_Ichim Okay, we know, but even the food pyramid mention fish as a separate category from meat and poultry are also separate. Of course they are all meat, just like apple and cabbages are all vegetable, but we separate fruits from veggies, berries, tubers and so on. It's just a way to be a bit more precise.

I do enjoy seafood as well. I do enjoy eating shrimps, fish, and lobster. However, I don't get the chance to eat a lot of it, as it's not something my husband tends to really like. Even when we do have some shrimp or lobster, I'm usually the only one eating it. My husband won't eat. My kids won't eat it. It's a shame. Hopefully, that will change, but we'll see.

I love most of fish available in my country. We don't have salmon here ( we can buy import salmon on supermarket, but the price is very expensive ), but I love gold fish, tilapia fish ( lokal fish in Indonesia ), milk fish, cat-fish and even salted-fish and many more.

here we are used to buying, cooking, eating the fish whole. (of course the scales, gills and innards are taken out first). i find white, deboned frozen fish too soft and tasteless.

I love fish, although I never developed the taste for salmon. My favorites are catfish, perch, and tilapia. Now when it comes to shrimp, I enjoy it so many different ways. Boiled in crab boil, fried, bacon wrapped around it and baked, sauteed with garlic and butter, and the list could go on for miles.

I don't like every kind of fish, but I like to eat shrimps, crabs, salmon and cod. My husband doesn't really like fish and we don't eat fish very often. When my family and I visit the north of Denmark we buy fresh fish at the harbour, the shrimps are especially delicious.

I can imagine how good are fresh shrimps. When we lived in Italy and went in Tuscany for summer holidays, we bought fish from fishermen at the harbour. It was so much better than the frozen fish you can find in supermarkets.

I would just have to be the only one in the family who doesn't like fish. There is just one kind that hubby buys for me. It's lightly battered and is infused with lemon juice. But that is pretty much it. :( Even so, I'm not overly excited when I see it brought to the table. :(
