How many of you always answer 'fine' whenever someone asks you how you are? Do you ever think about saying anything else, because what if you're NOT fine? Do you think this is social conditioning, and we all say 'fine' because we've been conditioned to say so?
I have experimented with saying other things from time to time, but I have to be careful who I do it to. Some people almost freak out if they say 'how are you?' and you say 'oh, I'm not well, I think I ate something bad and I might puke on your shoes in a few minutes'.

Hahaha! I'd react the same way if someone said that to me! Eek! lol
Anyway, it varies for me. Sometimes when I'm asked, I'll just say 'good' and leave it at that. Other times, I'll be downright honest and let them know. It usually throws them for a loop though!

I absolutely never answer "fine". I hate the "how are you?" question. I have no answer to it. I am flummoxed. If someone calls and asks, I panic. "Why?", I demand to know, fearing some bad news. I stammer and say "I don't know" or "I think I am alright". I don't want to lie and say "fine", but I don't want to get into it, either. It's complicated, don't ask.
