I am not sure if you can relate to this. But I often struggle with money. I do manage to get some projects, full time work and all that but savings are just not enough. And health issues due to too much work leads to even more money burning. Most of the money is going on health for me than eating out and other expenses. I wonder if this sort of stuff with money ever get easy or we just keep on struggling with money all the time till we hit old age. I am not sure how much I have to save as I am already saving 40% of my earning.

It depends on the type of lifestyle you live. If you bounce from job to job, never settling in one place, then money will always be hard to come by. But if you find a job you like and stay there for awhile, money can get easier. After you're there for awhile you'll get raises and maybe promotions. Then you'll have more money coming in. As for your health, you need to find a good work/life balance so you don't get too stressed out so your health doesn't suffer.

I once found a job I liked. Started off as a volunteer, got 12 paid hours a week after working there for years. Was there more than 12 years altogether and, unless you count going from voluntary to paid as a pay rise then the only rise I had was when the minimum pay increased. Then someone else got a paid position doing what I'd been doing for free. Something about having to honour the contracted hours. I ended up leaving when things changed because my job no longer existed and I knew I wouldn't get anything else if I stayed with the company. I'm just saying that yours is a good theory but it's not always what happens. I'm now working through an agency doing a job I don't want to do because it's the only work I can get. A suitable work/life balance seems impossible especially when you're in a minimum/low wage job and/or a zero hours contract. You have to work a lot of hours to earn enough to live but then, of course, you have no time left for family and things.

@pumpkinjam My "theory" isn't based on volunteer work as you obviously know you won't be paid for that. If you get a regular full-time job than after awhile you will get raises and promotions. My husband has been with his job 11 years, he started at minimum wage and now he makes more than anyone else in the company except the CEO.

@katsmeow1213 Well, yes, obviously you don't get paid for voluntary work. What I was saying is that I started off as a volunteer for a short while but once I was on the payroll, the work never increased nor did my earnings.

I don't think it ever gets easier for most of us. Even if we're frugal with our money, it always seems that the more we earn, the more we spend. I understand your struggle. I've been advised to save for such times as I am struggling but that's not easy when there are times you have nothing left over to save.

I am inclined to believe that the struggle with money will never end; no matter how hard I try, I still can't find the way to get out of debt and achieve a little financial stability, but I am also aware of the fact that millions of people around the world are in a much more dramatic situation than me. For many of us the desperate struggle with money will probably continue for as long as we live, unless we find the magic formula to make real money online, but that doesn't mean that we should give up our ambitions and ideals. We must keep fighting and believe that the day when our financial woes are over will come sooner or later.

As cost of living is getting higher and higher, many people are finding it hard to have enough to just get by. We all have to work hard. We all need to do the best we can but we must make sure the work we do won't affect our health.

If you are saving 40%, that is so good. For ordinary people, making a lot of money is not possible. Why I am saying this is that each one has a destiny and god(I have to say this word) has decided everything. If you have a skill and good health, you can work and earn a living. If you can be happy with that, everything is okay. I believe that each of us has a limited capacity and to hope for going beyond it is not possible.

For a small number of people, money comes easy. For the majority of people in the world, money is a constant struggle.

so far i have no problems on money, but that is because we are very thrifty... we rarely buy what we want but sometimes we splurge and use up all our savings

I have the same situation as you, maybe worse. But I can always recall the line in Leon The Professional says that Life is always hard, so I have to stick to this tough situation and move on.

For me, money seldom comes easy even though we try and work so hard. I think it depends on the economy, and the availability of jobs out there. In the case of contractual workers (in certain countries), money isn't a stable thing. There are no healthcare benefits, there will be delayed salary payment and the ever constant fear of how to find other means to earn money and make ends meet. Of course, food is a big part of our expenses, then so goes the rent, utilities.Even if we try to put up our own small business, we need to shell out money, and return on investment is uncertain. This may also be one reason why people take on other jobs. Right now, online jobs are available for people who want to earn extra cash. If we are willing to take on the job, we might be able to earn more.
