Actually there are 8 New Wonders of the World.
A Foundation took on the task of Naming the new Seven Wonders. They relied on private
donations and broadcasting rights with no taxpayers money.
Here they are:
Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt,
Great Wall of China,
Petra in Jordan,
The Colosseum in Italy,
Chichén Itzá in Mexico,
Machu Picchu in Peru,
Taj Mahal in India,
Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.
Some of these I have heard of and others are new to me, how about you, how many have you heard of?

By tradition, you should have only 7 wonders. I am not sure that the last one is a real wonder, although I should be flattered, as the main sculptor and the engineer were French and it is the only 20th C wonder in your list. However I think that a lot of historical places would deserve better that this statue to be in the list.

On the lighter sides -
Why doesnt your list feature me
Is it because you too believe in me being anonymous and unknown to the world
On the serious sides, I haven't come across the new list that you have. I know about the Egypt, India (we had rigorously voted for that, though I never believed that our voting would have any impact), China, Italy (I have seen this one on many disaster movies in the recent past, I wonder why it was so).
I will have to look out for the other ones. Sad that Eiffel tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are not on the list.

Sids, I didn't make up the list so guess they forgot about you.
Really you voted on the Taj Mahal now that is interesting to know, see your vote did have an impact.
Maybe the next time the Eiffel Tower and Leaning Tower of Pisa will be on the list.

@Marcyaz Yes, when they were doing the new list, there were a couple of websites and some numbers that we were asked to hop on and cast our votes. Back then, I was unsure if they were authentic or scams, but yes, there were millions of us who were attempting those things

@Marcyaz I had written a long response and lost it when my browser crashed... but the effect is that everything else was built before there were modern(ish) machines to help build them. In some cases even metal and draft animals, besides man.

@Rosekitty
Guess it didn't make it because to many women were voting and didn't want the men to know it was on the list..

@cherriefic I think there are different companies that do this therefore some will not have the same wonders of the world.

Taj Mahal was actually Tejo Mahalya, it was an ancient Temple dedicated to Hindu deity Shiva. According to Shahjahan's history Padshahnama, writer Mullah Abdul Hamid Lahori has mentioned in pages no 402 and 403 that this monument belonged to Jai Singh, and it was forcibly taken by Shahjahan.
And that Mumtaz Arjumand Bano Al Jamani (Shahjahan's wife) was buried in Burhanpur
Italian writer and traveler Niccolao Manucci, who visited India during the time of Shahjahan and Aurangzeb, he has also mentioned this in his work "Storia do Mogor"; he also mentioned that it was during the period of Aurangzeb when it was described as Mughal building.

@Marcyaz About Tejo Mahalya and more
According to Rajput History, Jai Singh was very frustrated by Shahjahan taking away a Hindu Pilgrimage for a burial palace and vowed revenge. During succession war between Shahjahan's sons, Jai Singh revolted and sided with Aurangzeb, he even made other Rajputs to side with Aurangzeb.
However Aurangzeb changed himself into Jihad Terror Lord. So war broke out between them, but Tejo Mahalya was never returned back, on the other hand Birth place of Lord Krishna was also demolished and turned into mosque by Aurangzeb.

I have heard of all of them except Chichen Itza. I have only visited the Colosseum, and I would love to visit some of the other places in the future. I think that Angkor Wat should have been one of the 8 wonders.

I have heard of all of them and I have read articles and seen documentaries about them. They were voted several years ago, and I think the millions of people who votedthem to be the new wonders of the world made the right choices. All these marvels, along with many other great sites who were proposed for that list, are on my bucket list, and if I won a prize consisting of a trip to one of these fabulous sites and could choose it, I would go to Machu Picchu. I find all those places fascinating, but Machu Picchu attracts me the most because of its unique location, hidden high up in the Andes, which allowed it to escape from the destructive madness of the European invaders.

We saw Chichen Itza in Mexico. It was in 1986 and my family and I had traveled to Cancun. We took a site seeing side trip to see that on a tour bus. It was quite amazing.
