Self Harm

I began self harming when I was 14. I'd been hospitalized for suicidal thoughts about a month before and my roommate had been a girl who cut herself. She said it made her feel better, so I tried it and found out the pain did reduce some of the internal emotional pain I felt. A few months later, I got kicked out of high school once they found out I was cutting myself.
Most professionals haven't even understood how to deal with it. I've been met with threats about hospitalization and - at times - pure disgust. I've been called manipulative and attention seeking for doing it, when in fact I hide my cuts quite well and hesitate to tell people about them.
I think I've finally stopped. My fibromyalgia medication numbs the pain when I cut. That takes away the sense of calm I feel after doing it, taking away the whole point of it. I'm also on some new medicine which really seems to be helping. So, hopefully I'm done after 16 years.

That is one serious matter ... you know you can overcome that without medication. Just think about the people who cares for you, or spend time with them ...
I salute you for surpassing a situation like that

I actually am on quite a few medications. That is because of, mainly, pretty serious bipolar disorder. Its taken a long time to figure out medications but I think they are finally helping.

Sometimes, certain types of depression take a very long time to over come. I know. I have been in therapy for quite some years now. I hardly even scratched the surface. You are a young woman and I do hope you are finished with self harm. That could be a move forward. Little steps.

I know people who have been successfully helped with this problem. I am not sure what their treatment was, but it has been effective. I hope you have stopped as well.

I hope you are done with that too.
Not only that, but you can get infection from cutting too.
