Do you believe in Horoscopes?

I was never a firm believer in Horoscopes but most recently, I have been amazed by what Astrocenter, a website providing daily horoscopes for all the zodiac signs, has been predicting. It seems so true. I wonder if I should believe or not. I wonder if it works or not. Do you believe in Horoscopes? Any such case that made you believe or disbelieve?

No, I do not believe in horoscopes. It's not because one or two times you can find that something you read in your horoscope happened that they have to be trusted.

Thank you for you response. But is this your only reason for not believing in horoscope?

@excellence7 Over the years I have noticed that they are most of the times not correct. Anyway I know another woman of my same sign, who has a very different life, the same horoscope cannot apply to both of us, but this is the case of course.

I also feel like this. I smile and hope sometimes they are true. But to be honest, I am still confused whether they make sense or not.

I thought the little scrolls that I got when I was little were cute and gave me something to read, but that was about it. I never believed in them!

Any specific reason for not believing into it?

@excellence7 I believe that it is purely coincidental. There are billions of people on the planet and only so many signs. If horoscopes were true, they'd be true for everyone, not just a few people every once in a while.

has been predicting. It seems so true. Most likely, they told you something from your past. And so it seems true to you. Did they tell you about your future? If so, before jumping into conclusions, it would be logical to wait for that part of future. As for my belief in Horoscopes, I had read astrology and palmistry during late 80s and early 90s. I know they are a sort of science but it is not easy to find the right set of people who can forecast / read your future. Horoscopes mostly are based on Time and there is no certainty that the time information you have is 100% accurate. So there are more chances of the predictions go wrong

Thank you for your response. But, if there are more chances of the predictions going wrong, you also mean that there are chances that they go right? Maybe it will be interesting to know from what you have studied - what are the basis of the predictions?

@excellence7 On a personal level, normally, when dealing with horoscopes, Indian way is to take into account the exact date, time and place of birth. This is then looked up in something called an Almanac which represents the positions of the Stars, Antecedants and other calculations. The Location is used to find the Longitudes and Latitudes to pinpoint how these stars were placed at that location in that time. Then, there are books and interpretations of these positions - in terms of- what can and may/may not happen. The science part is to identify the positions, calculate the locations of these stars during your lifespan and based on them, the results. Problem is that Almanacs are prohibitively expensive and not easily available. So many now use Internet which uses programs and algorithms to generate the basic chart of stars at your given date, time and location of birth. As nothing more is available in this aspect, 90% of predictions will fail eventually. Past events are easier to speak about as there is deductive logic involved. For instance, I might tell you the probable years you will get married and then if you are married, you would say, Okay, I was married in say 2000. So it becomes a little easier to calculate the differences.

@thesids I clearly understand your views. My roots are from India too. So, I somehow know what you mean by positioning of planets, etc. Thank you for your time to comment. It was appreciated.

I'm not a believer either. But sometimes I do enjoy reading those things just to amused myself. And sometimes I chose to believe the good things it said. Lol.

I do not believe in the horoscope. To many times they have been way off base with their answers.

All I can say is,I don't disbelieve astrology.I believe it's a science. Some practitioners of this science may be wrong though.Almost all the predictions an astrologer had made about me came true.So far as horoscopes are concerned,I think if these are based on absolutely correct information, can make correct predictions.

I believe in the zodiac and also astrology but maybe not so much daily horoscopes. Although sometimes they can be pretty accurate, it just depends on who is writing them rather than knowlege based on ages old, ancient even, observations.
