I love having my family around me, but I still love the times I am by myself. I can focus on the things I am doing when I am alone. I can paint without having a few suggestions coming my way.I can read and laugh to myself.. I enjoy those few hours of quite everyday. Many years ago before I was married I used to live by myself in a small town. I enjoyed it too. I din't have too, many friends there, but I had my hobbies to keep me happy then. Do you enjoy being alone?

I do now, but I didn't at first, as I had been married 35 years when my ex decidided we weren't compatible anymore. Go figure,. After 35 years that made no sense to me, but I have been divorced for 8 years, and being alone isn't bad at all, as I don't have to account to anyone but myself.

@sofssu Yes, to agree with you on this. I would rather be alone then to cater to someone who is unappreciative of me.

@rosekiss I am glad you enjoy being alone. Honestly it is better than being tied to someone who doesn't appreciate you. Isn't it a wonder how resilient we are and how we adapt to the changes in life.

rosekiss I am so sorry about your divorce after 35 years that is such a shame. I am glad to hear you've adjusted to be alone well. Good for you. My husband and I have been together 21 years and I can't imagine never having him here. Although he works swing shift so if he's not working he's watching tv or sleeping which I find frustrating.

I love being alone. I am a huge fan of peace and quiet, being free to slob out, chill, eat when and what I like, having total control of the TV remote, music system, etc. I also enjoy solitary walks in towns, woodland and on beaches. I do appreciate good company but being alone isn't lonely to me.

@arthurchappell Now that sounds like me talking. I am glad you enjoy your peace and quiet. But I hate disturbing that with the TV or music. I love those long walks too.

@sofssu do you enjoy watching shows alone too? I thought I was the only one. I think it is because I can focus more alone on the show rather than someone interrupting and starting conversations lol

I love being alone and find that if I don't have at least an hour or two alone time then I will end up feeling irritated! I enjoy watching movies and tv shows on my own for some reason lol

I prefer to be alone. But I haven't been truly alone in years. I have two children and a husband and I am NEVER alone. Oh well.

@Rollo1 I am sure you have a few hours of quiet everyday when they go to school/college or work or is someone always at home? Maybe I don't understand.

@sofssu Someone is always home. Before I was always home, I had five minutes per day alone in my car on the way to work. Sigh. Good times, loud radio, lots of loud singing to myself.

I love my husband dearly, and I enjoy every minute we spend together...BUT....... yes, there is a but, I like what I call my 'me time'. Where I can do what I want, when I want, and how I want without any interruption, distractions, etc. Now please, just leave me alone. Just teasing you.

With my husband I can do what I want, when I want, and how I want without any interruption, distractions, etc. for the most part. Sometimes when I am reading my Bible he'll come into the room and I'm like yeah? But that's fine no biggy.

Ours is a family of more than 50 members. We are a joint family. There are so many people around me that sometimes it becomes irritating.I yearn for a few hours when I may live only with myself,in my own company.

@sofssu Yes,I know it is hard to believe, but I mean more than 50 people under the one and the same room.Even more unbelievable is my friend's family which comprises of nearly 100 people.Brothers, their wives, children, uncles, aunts, cousins etc etc.Recently I had read about a village somewhere in a western state of our country where a family boasts of having as many as 500+ members.Again there is yet another village the whole population of which is constituted by the members of one family.....India is a land of wonders, dear.

@else34 Amazing.. while I agree it could be fun to have celebrations and such.. but everyday life could be terrible cramped. Is there any such thing as a personal time in such a big group?

I am glad to hear you can enjoy yourself when your alone. I don't like alone time all the time. But if I've had company or gone to my adult children's then I am glad to have alone time to unwind. myLot has been filling up some of my alone time, which is cool.

Yes I enjoy being alone but I still like to be around people. I don't like staying at home unless I can't go out and spend or earn money.

I do. Especially when doing things. I don't like getting any distraction since it would make me hard to focus on what I'm doing. But even when I'm not really doing things, I still prefer to be alone. Enjoy my solitary moment

Sometimes I enjoy being alone. I can quietly watch my favorite movies and books or listen to songs. But when I'm sick, I need to go out to buy medicine by myself and nobody cares. I will feel alone and I don't like the feeling.

@allisonwish I agree when you are sick things get really difficult. I used to experience this when I lived alone. That is when you think of having some company.

I think everyone needs that time alone once in a while, regardless of the responsibilities we have. For me, that "me time" is the time when I can really think without any distraction.

@cahaya1983 I can relate to what you are saying. I have a friend who hates being alone.. even for a few hours.. she keeps calling people to her house or invites herself over .. , or she will put her TV so loud and do some stuff around her house.. I can never understand that. I don't need to be alone to think freely, but I do focus better when its quiet even if people are around.

@sofssu Hm that's strange, probably she had a bad experience when she was alone? I can focus and think when there's white noise in the background, but what stops me from focusing is always interruption by people.

Yes, treasure the time when i am alone in our bedroom and just simply watch TV and do mylotting in my netbook while on bed . Though , when husband comes in , i love it too but i have to do away with my netbook already . He does his surfing near the modem because his tablet cannot receive much signal when in our bedroom .
