Unusual Staying Places

After restaurants with unique concepts, now I'd like to discuss hotels with unusual themes. There are ice hotels, tree-house hotels and sandcastle hotels out there! Then there are those that are built underwater or underground. Or how about some unusual themes geared toward kids, like a car themed hotel with Mercedes or VW bedrooms? I've never been to any of those I mentioned above. The closest to a themed hotel I've been to was the Love Fashion Hotel by fashiontv in Bali. The hotel offers a high fashion concept throughout its exterior and interior. Guests arrive on a catwalk style lobby then checking into chic rooms or suites. Glamorous style interior designs are felt throughout the entire hotel - one cannot help to pose against the fashionable backdrops as if she's a super model.

I think I would like to see that Ice hotel. I am always too hot so this would be perfect for me.

@sishy7 @TiarasOceanView I am not sure that I would want to stay there, because I would be afraid that I would be too cold, since I imagine they have to keep the place quite cold to keep the ice nice. However, I must admit that they do look absolutely gorgeous, and I wouldn't mind visiting one as long as I had a good winter coat with me.

I've seen images of them and they're quite nice; but yeah, they look... brrrr... freezing with the entire hotel is made out of snow and ice blocks.

I had to do a writing project on iwriter where I was asked to write on haunted hotels. During my search I found this one
Hotels love repeat guests. But what about those guests who depart but never leave? We found six hotels where paranormal activity, ghost stories, and visitors from the past abound.

I have never been to one of the themed hotels, but I have watched shows about them on the Travel channel. They look like a lot of fun, and some day I would like to stay at one. I liked the Pirate/Pirateship hotel that had rooms with waterslides down to the main indoor pool. Those looked like a lot of fun.

My sister has experienced going to a hotel where one of the walls has a seemingly big and alive aquarium complete with different fishes swimming and moving ! I wonder how did they do that ?

Sounds like a giant aquarium to me... Where was it? There's one in Singapore where we went through a tunnel-like entrance to the lobby. Inside the tunnel we could see fishes swimming all around us, even above us as if the ceiling was also part of the aquarium.

@purplealabaster Yeah, the thoughts would bother me big time if I were to stay in the hotel that was built entirely under-water.

I'd be happy to visit such hotels but I expect staying in them would be expensive due to their novelty nature.

When I stayed there, it was around the time of their grand opening and they offered pretty good deals and discounts.

None that I remember, but given the choice I would want to try the capsule/pod hotel in Japan, hehe. Not the best choice for a comfy stay but it would be cool to try something new.

Yeah, I've heard of airplanes that are turned into a hotel room too... So many different concepts for hotels out there...

I stayed in Crazy House in Vietnam. It is really hard to describe that hotel. It looks like a fairy tale building and the inside is almost like a maze where we had to climb from place to place. Every room is unique. My husband and I stayed in the Land Eagle room. Some of the other rooms were called the bear room, the kangaroo room, and the ant room and the tiger room.
