Kim Davis Gets out of Jail

United States
September 8, 2015 12:26pm CST
Kim Davis has been in a jail in Kentucky for several days for non-compliance of her job. Part of that job was to issue marriage licenses for same sex couples, which she refused to do. Now the contempt order that was put on her has been overturned. It looks like she should be an x-jailbird soon. What will happen now I wonder? Will she have to issue licenses or what?

She could have been fired from her job for not doing it. She is lucky she was not.

She couldn't be fired. She is an elected official. She could be impeached but from what I read there was some legal issue with impeaching her.

I am glad she is getting out of jail. She should not have gone to jail in the first place. She firmly believes that she should not issue gay marriage licenses due to her religious beliefs. What was so dangerous about this case is "who is next"? Would they put doctors in jail who refused to do abortions?

Kim Davis was assigned a job and she was supposed to perform it, irrespective of nature and complexity of her job. She was being paid for it, then refusing to do her job falls into the category of dereliction of her duty, which is an offence. If she had reservations about the nature of her job, she should not have accepted it at the first instance.

But has she not lost her jobs by breaking the law ? I don't think she can get it back again

No, she did not lose her job - she is in an elected position and they have done nothing so far to get rid of her.

Glad she got out. Last I heard I think they were changing the forms to make it legal for the licenses to go through without her approval or signature. It's a win/win situation in my opinion. She doesn't have to do something she doesn't believe in, and the LGBT community can still get married. Both sides can go about their business.

If anyone else refuses to do their job they are simply fired. I know she can not be fired but voted out. But that is what should be done as she refused to go by the law.

I agree. When I worked if I refused to work for religious reasons I would have been fired.

If she wants to keep her job, she will have to issue the licenses. She is very lucky she was not fired

This woman is another Duggar family waiting to happen. It is sickening the way she is causing all this contention. I am truly disgusted by her. She is nothing but an attention loving greedy slob.

I don't know anything about this case, but if I were in a job where I was forced to do something I believed was wrong, I'd look for a new job.
