Confused by Tumblr

For the last couple of days I've been searching for a better home for my newly started photo blog, which really doesn't seem to belong at Blogjob. Tonight I decided to put a bit of time into my research and read a few articles at HubPages which left me quite confused. The main options seem to be Blogger and Wordpress, but I've also seen some reference to Tumblr as a blogging site at which one can add AdSense. However I'm particularly confused about that one, especially the part about reblogging other people's posts. I can't help feeling that sounds a bit like allowing plagiarism. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I have several Tumblr blogs which I pretty well ignore. I also find it confusing. re blogging is like retweeting. The original poster still gets credit. I use the free Blogger version for my photo blog. But I am putting some on Blogjob. I like WordPress, and that's what Blogjob blogs are built on. Blogjob just puts limits on the types of widgets you can have on your sidebars.

@Gina145 I'm double-checking that I have copies of everything important to me there so that I can just leave without having to delete each post individually.

@bagarad I'm pretty sure I've got copies of everything, but I wanted to reread all my comments. Unfortunately I waited too long and it seems like I've lost out on that now. I want to remove all my content but I'm reluctant to delete my account, just in case Bubblews finally decide to reduce the minimum to redeem - though I gather they've stopped paying again, so even that wouldn't do me much good now.

@bagarad I haven't got as far as trying to use sidebars yet. This is all so new to me that I'm really confused. Writing at Bubblews was a lot easier while I was earning money there, but even if they started paying again, I wouldn't go back.

@TiarasOceanView If you have an account maybe you should try to do something with it. I've noticed that some people say they use it to get views on their content on other sites, so maybe I'll try that sometime, However it really doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for right now.

I have a tumblr that I am using as a blog. I also have two blogs at blogjob. I don't reblog other posts since I'm using it as a blog. I also don't mind other people reblogging my blog since it can help get more viewers. Just depends I guess on what kind of a blog you have and if you wish to have a lot of viewers or not. Either way the main person still receives credit since their user name and link always comes out on the reblog.

Thanks for such a complete answer @Blessedxoxo . It's good to know that the main person will still receive credit. I'm enjoying BlogJob, but I'm probably going to give Tumblr a try too. Among other things I may use it to promote my BlogJob articles.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Plagiarism is when you take somebody else's stuff and try to pass it off like it's your stuff. When it really is your stuff? … What? Are you plagiarizing yourself? Left a comment at this myLot post. More about Tumblr. Don't want to repeat myself as I might get accused of spamming if I copy my response from there, and put it in the comments here as well. BTW, the Tumblr platform and the Wordpress have great free templates for photographers that make for awesome displays of art or photos. Blogger is fine too. But Wordpress and Tumblr can be linked together and you can do simultaneous postings at both sites. You can export posts from Blogger and import them into Wordpress. Sound like an expert in this topic? Oh no! It's just that I have had years of screwing up, scratching my blog project or rather having my blogs deleted, and starting all over again! Never say die! http://www.mylot.com/post/2863790/send-wordpress-posts-to-tumblr As far as I'm concerned, if the platform is free and I follow the rules and the app owners don't ask me to leave by deleting my blog ... I use all of them!
