What is the use of tagging for various things I do understand the to tag a person but not other things Please tell me something about that

But you must be tagging people at least So that the people come to know about your comment or something else??

I could never figure out how it worked. But still I use tags, in the hope that whatever purpose it serves, it does that just right.
