If You Don't Want Anyone To Disagree With You, Don't Be Controversial

It makes sense. If you don't want controversy, don't post about controversial subjects. If someone disagreeing with you is going to ruin your day and force you to block them, then don't post on any subject that someone will disagree with you about.
Post photos of cute kittens, or something.
This is myLot. The site thrives on discussion, not on multiple rubber stamp answers of "Yes, I agree". Not much interaction there.
This is myLot. There are people from all over the world with different worldviews and religions and political beliefs. That's what makes it lively .
So, even if you think your views are completely mainstream, there will still be someone who has a different viewpoint. If you can't handle reading comments from people with different viewpoints, then be very careful about choosing your post topic.
If you want nothing but agreement, you could post about how much fun it is to get paid when you reach $10. I don't know anyone who would say they don't want to be paid.
Yeah, sometimes I can be contentious, but I don't comment on just those posts I agree with and I don't expect everyone to agree with me. I hope they don't, so we can generate some discussion. Lively discussions bring earnings, right?
But, just to be safe... How's the weather?

YES. i try not to post anything political on facebook because not only do i not want to get into arguments with anyone, i dont want to be upset with ignorance or hate haha... sometimes being quiet is the best policy, but other times its good to speak up, especially when you feel like its a safe arena/around open-minded people or if justice really is called for. just depends on the situation i guess.

Oh, I duke it out on Facebook all the time. I have had more hate directed at me than fan mail, but I don't mind. I am not the one who got my bloomers in a twist and blocked someone, lol. Some people don't like to argue or debate and that's fine. But they have to know that if they open the can of worms, they have to expect the consequences.

I don't mind any topic as long as it is interesting and why not controversial topics, we have had many such topics discussed here earlier and at times the admin had to intervene asking members to cool down...But I notice many members stay away from such topics and play safe , which of course is their choice !

I get called a lot of names on social media. There wasn't much debate on the bubble, and I guess there is good reason to avoid it here, too, since I have already been blocked by someone. But people who don't want a discussion shouldn't post about controversial subjects.

I have absolutely no problem with people disagreeing with me. The value of a response should be measured by it's content and validity, not simply by agreement or disagreement.
In the past I have had comments in total disagreement with me, but if they are reasonable and well presented they can really improve the overall quality of a discussion.

I respect your and every one else's right to differ. We should not expect everybody to have the same opinion.Remain polite, but firm. This is the strategy I follow while dealing with discussions on controversial topics.

The weather here is cooling off and we did get a little needed rain. Now that can get to be one big bore.
Let's talk about something that will really start a stir. Who the heck we goin' to get as President this next time. And can he/ she straighten out the mess that goof ball has done.

I really don't know what is going to happen with the weather or the election. I don't think that even the strongest president can undo a lot of the mess the country and the government is in. Our problems are deeply rooted in the abandonment of representative government. A recent study shows that Congress does not follow the will of the people 90% of the time. We need a Congress and a president who understand just what they are supposed to be doing, and execute the will of the people, not their own agendas.

Sometimes, we have to conclude a discussion that way. But it's important to know what we think and what others think. It's how we determine our opinions. Facts, knowledge, listening to others, etc. We may never change our minds or change anyone else's mind, though.

The weather as a topic is potentially a bad choice. Do you have any idea how the Greenhouse Effect is messing with the weather? In fact, so much so that it could be said that we now control the weather.

I have responded to controversial discussions, as the topic was interesting. There was one discussion that I responded to, that I know now, I shouldn't have, as it was a nightmare, and all he did was argue, and he felt he was right and everyone else wrong. I ended up blocking him, but the way he got was awful, as he got mean and vindictive, and I had no choice. I no longer post to those that I feel will be controversial or argumentative.

I know you...I know you...from somewhere...Hitler discussion? Well, I finally located a document on net that indeed qualifies as incriminating evidence. So my dear, I went on to search and search till my quest was satisfied. And it was not Simon Wisenthal that did the job. I have to, after all, discount some prejudices as well. It was a document in some mental health institution. Phew...that convinced me that the man was extremely cruel indeed.

I know what you mean. I think some people are just over-emotional and tend to overreact whenever their views are challenged. I like thought-provoking posts, but they don't have to be controversial to create lively discussions. If a post offends me, I just don't respond and move on. And oh, the weather? Windy!

@Rollo1 I understand. That's the whole point of a discussion afterall - so people can throw in their opinion, agreeable or not.

Ha ha -the weather. Well yesterday it got up to 112 F in one neighborhood and a few others lost their power. Which is just awful. But today- only 102 is predicted. The norm would be around 90-95 here. So it actually is a topic of conversation! I do enjoy reading posts from peeps in different places.
