Long Break Away from MyLot

Hey everyone! I'm back from my extended stay away from MyLot. I've been so busy with my two jobs IRL that I've been too exhausted to go online at all. I started my first day at the gym as a cheerleading and gymnastics instructor yesterday. I'll be teaching 3-15 year olds how to cheer and tumble. It's so much fun so far, and it got me thinking that I could really do this for the rest of my life. It's my favorite job so far, and I'm so glad I'm going into personal training.
That being said, what has everyone else's favorite jobs been? And why?

Welcome back, Rachel! It's always good to do something you're passionate about. I've had a few different jobs but I like what I do now - freelance writing and translating. I love the flexibility and the fact that I can work from home (or anywhere else, for that matter!).

That's very true! I've been writing online off and on for a little over four years now, I think, and I honestly love it. If I could just write and teach fitness all day, that's what I would do, and that's what I'm trying to do. I will get to that stage, eventually, and I couldn't be more excited about it. As a freelance writer, what websites do you like to write for, or do you have particular clients that you write for instead? How long have you been writing and translating?

@cahaya1983 That's wonderful! I'm glad you're able to find clients offline. It's a little difficult for me to do here, because I live in such a small town and there's no need for writers around here. My jobs are better found online.
Starting a fitness blog is actually my intention! I'll have an in-depth fitness website up and running in less than a month, and I'm most definitely going to feature it here on MyLot so that everyone can see. It's something I can really be proud of, you know?

@RachelDSims24 I've been doing my freelance work for offline clients mostly and it has been a little over 5 years. I do write online here and there but my earnings don't really depend on them so I consider it as something I do for fun. Writing and teaching fitness sounds cool, maybe someday you can even start a fitness blog.

That is awesome. You know they says, find something you like to do and you'll never work another day in your life. This is so true. If you can make ends meet doing what you love, you'll never feel like you are working. Congratulations on the new job!
I like what I do most of the time, and the money is great, but it's not my dream job. I'm still building up for the dream job.

@RachelDSims24 I work in IT at a Credit Union. I would love to be able to support my family with doing photography and design work but I dont know how to market myself as a photographer. Plus I wont do wedding photography. I don't want to be responsible for ruining someones once in a lifetime photos because I messed up. I couldn't handle the stress.

That's okay! Finding something manageable to live through while you work on your dream job is always an excellent route to go, too. What's your dream job, and what do you do now?

@loki1982 That's definitely understandable, Jared. I know a few people that are into photography, and I guess that's the main problem with that field - it's so heavily saturated that it's almost impossible to get into. But you could definitely do it, if you are able to eventually invest enough to get started. Obviously that's a long-term goal, but don't ever sell yourself short of it. You can always achieve what you want if you keep believing in yourself and keep moving forward, even if it's just a couple of inches each day.

You'll find one. I think it usually takes a really long time for someone to find their true passion in life. The only reason I've found it so soon is because I got ridiculously lucky. Keep researching, keep trying to find what drives you. One of my favorite quotes is, "There's the day you're born, and then there's the day you find out why." Go find out why.

@Boonie1 Any time! I love trying to inspire people, especially with the field I'm going into. It's kind of my job! Haha. I hope that you find what you're passionate about and that you can run with it.

Thank you! Starting out it honestly doesn't pay enough to make a living wage, which is why I'm still working 30 hours a week at my call center job, but it's so rewarding. I got to teach 5 kids yesterday, and they had so much fun learning how to do front rolls and obstacle courses. I can't wait to go back today!
