Terrible, awful, no good, very bad day

I think that line is from a kid's book. But that... that was my work day. I feel like I am working my tail off to meet expectations and as soon as I do, I get no credit for that. I just get hit with something else. If you want me to want to help the team and be a team player, then don't come down on me when I talk to, and help a coworker on a work matter. I almost ended up in tears today after the 3rd or 4th you did this wrong email. You know, I get in trouble if I don't follow the billion rules that are not in a manual but in random emails, so I try. Then get told I take something too literal.
I guess I need good vibes. I need encouragement. I need tales of your work woes.
I am thankful I have work. It could be worse. But it could be better too, you know?

I just think getting both sides of the coin would make for better and happier employees, you know? Because right now all I am getting is how bad everything I do is.

@sprinklesare4winners we all could handle the bad if there was some good in there too, but not many managers are actually good managers.
oh and yes, I am well past the F this. If it weren't for the fact we need the money I'd have walked I was so upset today. But not all days are like that. Granted at best is I can hope to be left alone, no good encouraging feedback or anything,.

@Jessicalynnt exactly!! people are so dumb. most workers will respond MUCH better to encouragement and praise, and a little constructive criticism rather than negativity, which just makes everyone want to say "'f this" and give up.

What is it that you do for a living? Sounds like something to do with a desk job where you are on the computer. That is terrible you are left feeling so awful at work. I used to strive to go above and beyond and it can truly be exhausting and stressful. I hope that things get better for you at work soon and people start to appreciate you more. But you are correct the title you wrote is from a children's book that was turned into a movie. I haven't read the book but my kids and I loved the movie "Alexander and the no good terrible very bad day"

that's the book! I knew it was a book I have read outloud to kids at some point. And yeah, I work in an office doing officey stuff like dealing with workloads, and manpower and stuff. I am wondering if it;s not time to start looking in the company for a better fit again.

@kevin1877uk I did actually, and it should only get better, Sat and Sundays are my most favorite days and the days that keep me sane, as from 60 odd people inc management, we are down to like 5 on sat, and 3 on sunday in our building of the company at least, I like the slower pace

Ah yes. The stresses of the average work day. I remember it well. I worked in a factory for many years and was never told that I was supposed to do my job and another woman's job as well. I found this out when she reported me for not doing HER job. I actually got into serious trouble for this and no amount of explaining or defending myself would help the situation. Later, the woman who was getting paid for doing nothing (apparently) came over to me to apologize for being forced to report me, but "she had to do what she had to do." Yes, I was pretty amazed at this kind of gall. LOL.

How... how does that even make sense! I've started documenting each instruction or asking for things in writing, so I can, "refer back to it" which is my way of being able to pull it out, and note, but this is what you told me. So that's what I did. if you now want me to do X, then let's update this email.

Have you tried discussing the matter with the people whom you are supposed to report to? I think that can help you in some way. Many a times, we are expected to be well aware of what to do - as we are in the job. But then, when you say a billion rules, definitely no book can handle that part. In my opinion, it would be healthy to have a discussion and let them know what is actually problem.
