I think I broke a rule....Ooops....

I was just reading the guidelines on another post and one of the rules not to break was you are not allowed to use symbols for curse words. I did that twice I think and never got a mention or warning. I hope I don't get penalized or yelled at for it. Ever broken a rule here or on another site without realizing it until it was too late?

@owlwings I have experienced that in the old myLot where there were situations that called for an Admin with a heart that took no sides but did justice.

I have done that also. I have not read all the guidelines myself. I am a naughty boy. I never heard anything though from admin. Great now your post is going to get both of us in trouble. lol On the bright said I guess we leaned not to do that anymore. Funny thing is most hate political correctness, but can't stand a few cuss words.

Lol I'm sorry! I wasn't trying to get anyone else in trouble. But I agree. People get bent out of shape over the silliest of things.

@DanieGirl80587 I am one of those people who joins a site and tries so hard to understand the guidelines. However since I cannot have them by my side while I travel all over the site and post I usually just play it by ear. I see how other post, I read and I hope that all is well with my work. Usually it has worked out quite well for me. As they say - don't worry be happy.

It's been so long that I had completely forgotten about the profanity filter that sometimes didn't allow for perfectly harmless words because sometimes they were used in a harmful way. Well, I am glad to see the admin are understanding and forgiving.

Me too! So many aren't forgiving at other sites. They will just delete you without warning *cough cough*

Yes I have but a lesson by it. I always read the Guidelines when I know I am going to be active on a site.

Like I said I thought I read most of them. Guess I missed that 1. At least I found out now then actually get yelled at for it right? Lol.

Yes I do feel lucky I suppose lol. I'm just glad I caught it myself before getting a warning email and then getting panicked.

I think they probably didn't know about it because no one reported you. What a silly "rule" anyway. As if we live in a world where no one curses. Even I might slip on that one.

I talk online like I would in real life.

The filters are a bit picky and I have to write "h0m0 sapiens" at myLot, as the first word is forbidden, to "circumvent the profanity filter". I broke really the rule a few times, but never to curse at anybody and I think it is the more important. If nobody reports you as offensive or abusive then nothing will happen : the law is one thing, and interpreting the law is something else.

Yeah I wasn't cursing AT anyone or being mean. Just in general. But at least now I know!

I don't curse in real life so I have no trouble avoiding it online, but yeah, I can see how easy it could be to do that.

Do they want us to use the actual curse words? What is considered a curse word today? There are those under 30 who use words those of us over 40 would have gotten our mouths washed out with soap!

Still pretty new here, so it is entirely possible. I didn't realize that one was a rule for example.

I actually read all the rules before I joined up. I can't remember all of them but I got the basics. I'm sure they'll smack your wrist before clunking you over the head.
