What Band Would You Want to Spend a Week on the Road With?

There was an interesting question posed in a group I belong to on Facebook. The question said: "If you could spend a week on the road with any band, what band would you choose?" Since it was an Eagles-related group. most of the people said "the Eagles." Honestly, they're the LAST band I would pick: they don't like one another, there's always been too much friction between the members (in 1977 Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner literally came to punches after a show in Knoxville; and in 1980, before they broke up, Frey and guitarist Don Felder could be clearly heard threatening each other with what they were going to do once they got off stage...and they were doing this while they were on stage!); and, quite frankly, based on everything I've read about them, I think the Eagles -- or, should I say, the two "primary" Eagles (Don Henley and Glenn Frey) -- are six of the ten biggest jerks on the planet. No, thank you. I do, sort of, go out with bands: they're called "road trips." With the music I like, most of the musicians are very easily accessible (as opposed to the Eagles, who charged people $900 for V.I.P. tickets that included backstage passes -- but NO meeting anyone in the band!) after the shows. If I could go for an all-expense paid week to see someone for a week, I would narrow my options to either British guitar wizard/singer/songwriter Richard Thompson (especially if he were playing solo) or one of my favorite rock singers, Boz Scaggs. Granted, I might change my mind after a couple of days, but right now, that's who'd I pick. How about you? What musician or band would you like to go road tripping with for a week?

There are some bands I wouldn't mind hanging around with for a week, but I wouldn't like to go on the road with them, that's a rough life. If I could go back in time though, I would probably pick Jackson Browne and his Running on Empty tour in the 70s. I would love to spend a bus trip talking to David Lindley, he's such a wild character.

I got to meet David Lindley earlier this year. He played just south of Cincinnati, and I was embarrassed that there were only about 30 people there. The show was fabulous...he only played about a dozen songs, but the stories made it worth the price of admission!!!

@FourWalls Okay, now you've made me jealous. I love Lindley, he's so talented on anything stringed - and he owns some weird stringed instruments. But I think he's one of those famous people that no one has ever heard of, so I can imagine the turnout being small. Shame, though.

The only band that has ever fascinated me enough to be curious about them was Pink Floyd, their shows were awesome and I was lucky enough to get to see their Pulse concert in the 1990s

I would go with Nik Turner and his crazy bands. He is an old Hawkwind member. He is still going, but I met him once before at a party. He is very personable. Or I would say Mark Knopfler of old Dire Straits, also met him, also very nice guy.

I would go for Omnia, I like most of their songs, and they seen pretty cool to talk with. Besides then I can't think of another one, not that I don't like other bands, I think they are the ones I just know more about and really like most songs, so that's why I choose then.
