We've all heard about the diminishing numbers of honey bees around the world in recent years, but right here in my garden they're definitely alive and well.
I spent a couple of hours this beautiful Spring day out cleaning up the garden and was delighted to see so many bees making the most of the lavender bush, as well as another shrub we have around the other side of the house. I love watching them at work.
How are the bees where you live? Do they appear to be returning, growing in numbers?

woohoo! i'm so glad they've returned to yer place. i think that with more folks bein' aware 'n cuttin' back on pesticides 's helped these critters rebound. i know i was plum delighted 's well when ours started to be more prevalent after so many years 'f drought 'n farmers with bad practices. its hard to distinguish if'n there's larger numbers 'r if'n they jest 'd more pickin's 't my place with the varieties 'f blooms were were blessed with this year. 'n then the grasshoppers came 'n took o'er. they're eatin' the very blooms that sustain the bees. i've great hopes there's 'nough to sustain 'em.

I saw quite a few bees around this summer ..., but, a distinct lack of butterflies....I think it depends on what you have planted in the garden as to how many you see....

I'm always watching the bees in my garden, and miss having my beehives. However I live in a subdivision now, and like to go away at times - just a new phase of life! You have to really look after hives . But I do very much enjoy them in the garden and plant lots of herbs and other flowers they love. I've written several articles about honey bees.

I just mentioned that the bees are disappearing in some parts in another post on bees. And, that they are trying to bring them back. Glad to see awareness of this issue and that your garden is a great place for them to thrive. All it takes is to be more mindful of nature and do things like plant bushes like the one you have to keep them going strong.
