My harvesting excitement!

I'm truly wondering about my excitement whenever I harvest from my garden! More exactly I'm hoping it isn't a mental health problem! Just yesterday I harvested this lumpy rhizome from my ginger plant that's been growing in a pot this year. It was a Jack and the Beanstalk thing, about 9' tall! I mean, surely it isn't normal to feel so thrilled with an ugly yet to me beautiful lump?
My plans? I'll use some for ginger tea, some for cooking, and the major part for crystallized ginger this time.
See that pinkish part? That's where the stem was growing, and I cut it off.
The rest of the lump went back into the pot, where it's happily growing again.

I used to like helping my dad harvest things form his garden years ago,.. and more recently I was working with a lady who had her own vegtable and salad garden and fruit trees... and it was great to be able to go and pick what we wanted and cook it.... anyway.... I think it's these simple things that are supposed to give us pleasure...

@crazyhorseladycx oh wow! Yes, ginger is wonderful for prevention of nausea. I'm glad you have some there. I haven't tried it in mashed potatoes though.

@crazyhorseladycx - you've grown ginger too?! That's wonderful. I can't believe the huge lumps I got, and now the incredibly delicious crystallized ginger. You and I would make a wonderful team!
