Best budget stretchers?

What things do you do to stretch a budge. I so some, like I already know to get meat in those larger packs and then move it to smaller packs when I get home and freeze it. I just need some other good ideas! I do some other things, coupons when I can, sales when possible. I know sometimes cheaper isn't better when you have to use tons to make up the difference. But every penny saved on households is one of those things that just helps.

@Jessicalynnt I think some food brands that are too cheap do taste cheap. I have certain ones I can stomach lol

@gudheart exactly right, some are just plain terrible. Some things I actually like the store brand better than the name ones

I do this with many things, there are a few I am picky on, but that generally is where the generic tastes horrible, or something.

I've stopped buying most non-essentials, and have gon to cheaper brands. I also buy loose vegetables like potatoes and carrots, only buying what we need for the week. I used to over purchase and waste things.

Well that's hard for me, I was always good at saving money, I don't even know what I do exactly, I just... save it? That's a dicussion that really got me now. I just buy things I really really want that are on my list, besides that, sometimes even when going out with friends I try not to spend so much, try to keep it to the minimum and still not looking like an idiot when going out.

@maggs224 That's what I am doing lately, going everywhere possible to save as much money as I can, things are way too expensive in some places, If I wasn't like this I wouldn't have 1/10 the money I have now.

@maggs224 Found it! And thats a good idea, hit the good meat stores on the day they clean out the older sale meat, I have a freezer for that kind of thing already!

When I was much younger with a young family I would ride my pedal bike into town and I would ride from one side of town to the other just to save a few pennies. Back then we always had more month than we did money. I got to know where I could get the items that I regularly bought every week for the cheapest price. Sometimes it involved going to half a dozen different shops. My fresh fruit and veg I got off the market. Fruit and veg were always fresher and cheaper from the market and you had more choice. I always used the same stall on the market, because I was a regular and bought a lot, he often did me great deals and would slip extra in too for free. I also learned where the different stores put the food items that were near their sell by dates. When I went into the store the sell by shelves were the first place I would look. I could buy items near the sell by date for up to 50% cheaper sometimes. I never bought prepared processed food, I would make and cook everything we ate from scratch. I also grew some of my own veg and fruit in the garden.

I am planning to get a credit card where I can get a rebate. That's the thing good brands mostly are good quality product whereas cheap brands are usually low quality products. We need to choose wisely to save money without compromising the value of the product

When I was healthy and working, I would work more to earn more and meet the expenses. I would never compromise on quality and quantity back then. Today, I am not much in control but still, if I come across a chance, I still do the same - work more, but sadly that "work more" of today is not that enough.

yeah there comes a point where working more means shortcuts elsewhere, with health, with diet, and it ends up sometimes hurting more in the long run

I buy things off the internet when possible, amazon is great for bargains and deals. I also walk or use public transport if I can to avoid the cost of running a car.

Amazon I often use, esp around the holidays since I can ship directly to whomever is getting this present, so i dont have to shell out for shipping to. Walking, well too far of town for that to be possible really, but I try to condense town runs into one trip multi stops

yeah, I found out if we do that before we freeze the meat it goes further because I have less chance of cooking too much
