I've read a few other discussions where people are introducing themselves so I thought I would give it a try myself. I am 59 years old and live in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I've been married (and divorced) twice and I have two children. My oldest is a daughter and my youngest is a son.
I am very proud of my children. My daughter does missionary work and has been to India many times. My son is a youth minister and all the kids love him to death. My daughter has 2 boys and my son has 3 girls and 1 boy which makes 6 grandchildren for me.
All my life I worked in the medical billing field until I couldn't work anymore because of RA. My brother took me in about 6 years ago and I moved to Las Vegas to live with him. I love Vegas but you do get tired of it after a while. I lived there 5 years before my brother and I decided to move back home. My brother is my best friend. I am 13 years older than he is and helped raise him so we are very close.
I love to read, write, scrapbook, crochet, sew, cross stitch and make jewelry. One day I hope to write a book as soon as I stop making excuses as to why I don't have time to do it. I love nature and all animals.

It is a really nice idea to introduce yourself like this, it so helps to know a little about people. When you do they become so much more than just another user name in your comments. Thank you for sharing and it is lovely to hear about a family that loves each other and gets on so well :D

@Marcyaz I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I helped raise him. I was 13 years old when he was born and my Mom went through a depression afterwards so I was the one who took care of him most of the time. I felt like I was his Mom.

Sounds like you and your brother are extremely close. That is wonderful that the two of you are living together. You need to stop making excuses and write that book you have always wanted to write. It sounds as if your children are doing wonderful in their chosen professions.

Hi nice to meet you. You sound like you've lived an interesting life. I don't think I'd have the patience to take up crocheting. If you want to write a book you should just go for it. It's also great that you're so close to your brother, I'm not that close to any of my siblings, not close enough that I'd be able to live with them.

@simone10 I have 7 siblings. Most are half siblings. I share the same mother with 6 of them and the same father with 2 of them. I only have the one full brother. I'm semi close to my sister by my father, probably because we didn't grow up together. I didn't know about her until I was 12 and I didn't meet her until I was probably 14 or 15. It's easier to get along with someone when you didn't spend the majority of your childhood fighting with them. She's also much closer to my age. Most of my siblings are 10 years older or more, except my full brother and my sister by my dad. The age gap has also made it difficult to get close to them, as some of them have kids around my age. It's just difficult. Even if you are just close to the one that's still better than me.

It is a nice idea to introduce as in our profile page there is limited space for that. Nice to know you are close to your brother - not quite common these days.

@Butchcass4 I am glad you are a close knit family. Not being able to see your grand children grow is indeed sad but that is how it is with many.

@simone10 our family usually has at least one blow up a year and work it out otherwise we are quite loving when we get together. I thank God for my family they are precious to me. I have 7 grandchildren I don't get to see very often. They are growing up and I don't know them how sad.

I think it's a good idea to introduce ourselves, so we get to know each other better. I will do this one day, when I stop making excuses of being too busy.
It's so nice of you to have such a good brother. Your house must be filled with joys and laughter when everyone is back and gathered together.

@Butchcass4 Even though I didn't have the best childhood, I do have some really great memories. That is what I choose to remember.

@much2say Exactly! I just have to push myself to get going. I know this probably sounds like an excuse but I will have to wait until my puppy Daisy is a little older. I have to be able to concentrate and it's hard to do when I am constantly running after her

Sounds like you have a rich rewarding life. sorry about the need for your retirement. Hope the book comes out soon for you. Start working on it right away. If you can write on here as you obviously can, a book is just a longer spell at the keyboard.

Thanks for the insight into who you are. I enjoyed reading and getting to know more about you.
Oh I love going to Las Vegas, but I wouldn't want to live there. I have the same thoughts about New Orleans too.

@simone10 I understand what you are saying. I guess for me, I don't mind the 'rat race' for a bit (a visit), but I couldn't handle it day in and day out for a long period of time(living there). I need my escape back to a 'snail race'.

@TexanTornado I was able to tolerate for 5 years. After that, I was ready to come back to the south.
