Thinking about the moon

I was thinking last night about the power of the moon. We all know it controls the tides with its gravitational pull. When the oceans face the moon they are pulled towards it, and high tide occurs. Animals seem to be affected by the moon too. Jackals, wolves and dogs will sit and howl at the moon. It is a very creepy, lonely sound, echoing into the night air. I have a friend who gets terrible migraine headaches during a full moon. She doesn't have to know when it is full moon - her headaches tell her, and she can be incapacitated for a few days. I've noticed that young children's behavior often changes during a full moon. Just ask any full- time caregiver! Obviously behavior in the general population changes too, with the lunar cycle. There must be a reason why people with mental health problems who acted out were at one time referred to as "lunatics." I've heard of many other situations in which the moon appears to have a mysterious power over our earth and its inhabitants. I don't know if most of them are superstition, or whether they are scientifically documented. All I do know is, a full moon is awe inspiring, mysterious, and makes you wonder about the connection between it and us. We know now it's not inhabited, and that's a shame. I always used to find comfort in the thought that a man in the moon was looking down upon us in a benign way. Heaven knows, SOMEONE needs to look down on us. Wars make our world a very sad place at the moment. And I know we can't blame the full moon.

The power of the moon is pretty much limited our tides and our calendar. Anything else is entirely imaginary.

@xfahctor well, that's a pretty scientific answer! Some of us just have to have our imagination exercised occasionally. Anyway, that's my story, and i'm sticking to it, lol!!

@VickiJW ok, so it's a bit more complicated than that, lol, but anywho.

While we sleep, nocturnal animals cyclically adjust to the waxing and waning moon.

@crazyhorseladycx I'll look forward to hearing about it! Some people do seem to go a little "funny" during the full moon.

super moon
I remember mother talking about the effect of the moon the kids in the house used to have. Sadly no one has gone deep into it. Do you remember the super moon?

@allknowing I do remember that very well! It was very beautiful, shining onto the ocean just near us.

I know that many animals and even humans are disturbed by the full moon. I have no migraines but I cannot sleep when there is a full moon. Of course the moon is not to blame for the wars and the problems of the world, humans are to blame.

@LadyDuck That's a very good observation. I have no problems with the moon, but I certainly have noticed it in others.

I have noticed the drivers get worse too, when it is a full moon. If I can, I stay home.
