DIVERSITY in Hollywood

Have you ever noticed that most roles in movies tend to be played by straight white people? Or that transgender rolls are being played by cisgender people? That in things based on books, characters who's race was never specified, are all assumed to be white in movie casting? Or how in movies base on historical events, even more whitewashing occurs?
In all sorts of movies, be they Hollywood or otherwise, or even in TV shows, there needs to be a whole lot more diversity. POC (people of colour) casting, actors and characters of all sexualities and genders and even religions to show representation. People need their voices heard, so diverse casting in big movies and franchises and TV shows could get their voices heard just a tiny bit more.
I once heard a story of a little girl from India who watched a movie based on her favourite book and when she saw the all-white casting said "oh, maybe Indian people aren't allowed at [name of something from movie]" and that's not right.
I've had many discussions on various social media sites about why this is important and why we need to see diverse casting and accurate casting in movies and television shows and especially in historical documentaries. Some franchises are wonderful at this, as are some TV shows. Some are not.
I recently heard of a movie based on historical events where the transgendered women of colour are being played by straight white men. I heard of another movie, where Eddie Redmayne, a straight white cisgendered man, is playing a transgender woman. A roll that should be being played by a real transwoman. And yet another thing that isn't right, one of the largest movie franchises in the world has three new related movies coming out and so far all the main cast are white, straight cisgendered people and the only representation anyone has is two of the main characters having a Jewish surname and "extras of colour" been seen going for filming.
The world needs to step up and diversify casting choices. Minorities deserve representation.
