What Makes Someone DECIDE to Be an Atheist (Considering 1 Corinthians 1:17-31)?

Not many Scripture-passages get 'emblazoned' on my memory (maybe not word-for-word, but somebody 'cites the chapter-&-verse,' and you "know what they're sayin`")... John 3:16, Deuteronomy 29:29, a few of the Psalms ('chapter/verse' not coming to mind right now), Isaiah 54) ... But I added to that 1 Corinthians 1:17-31. It's a verse that 'Type-2 atheists' ("Evangelical" atheists, to whom it's "important" to de-convert many Christians) HATE! because it essentially 'throws human logic out the window!' But I wonder; since atheists pride themselves on 'knowing the Bible better than most Christians,' how is it that they can read 1 Corinthians 1:17-31 & STILL not believe?

I am an atheist, I don't know everything in the bible, but I already studied it, I already was a Christian. I already thought about doing a discussion about that, but this really doesn't matter, what I believe, what does matter is how I think, how I act. I didn't choose not to believe, seeing people and analyzing a lot of facts I got to the conclusion I don't believe in any kind of god. But this doesn't make me proud of being an atheist, I don't try to look superiour or right above anybody, and I am not trying to convince anyone that I am right, I got here by myself, and I don't think I am right, nor wrong, I am happy by my choice, and I agree with everything that makes people happy.

I work as ESL teacher in China and I found most of my student are atheist and it is because of their culture. They have been brought up as dynasties and Confucius beliefs and they believe on practical things than God.

I think there are various reasons as to why some people view themselves as atheists. Since God allows freedom of choice then I respect that.
