Do You Ever Dial a Helpline Number and Grow Old Listening to Muzak?

My poor hubby. We had a question about our insurance so we called our agent...no answer but she left a fine recording stating she'd be out of the office for three weeks. Wow. I wish we had that much vacation time. The recording told us to dial zero, which he did. Nobody answered. Then he called a number that our agent had given us previously...that turned out to be some phone survey line. So then he called the 1-800 number and got.... ....you guessed it. Nothing. Nobody home. I said, "heck with it, it's not that important, I guess. We will figure it out." Don't you just love these oh so helpful help lines that either give you muzak, a recording, (your call is important to us, please stand by while we ignore it...) or nothing at all? Ah, how I long for the good old days when actual human beings answered phones. It still took hours to get through at times but at least someone answered the phone eventually. I'm waiting for the day when I get a prank phone caller and when I answer I hear a recording stating, "please hold as all of our deep breathers are currently with other victims..." I'll bet the rest of you folks hate this sort of thing too! Don'tcha?
