Productive Praying Part #1

I would like to start a series on the Lords prayer, and how the Lord said we are suppose to pray In {Luke 11:1} When Jesus had ceased praying He was confronted with a request from one of His disciples who was watching as Jesus prayed to His Father. Seeing the connection and relationship that Jesus had with His heavenly Father through prayer, and desiring that same type of relationship His disciple asked Him “Lord teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples” Jesus responded to his request by saying “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one” {Luke 11:2-4} If we look at The Lords Prayer we see it starts with a preface or introduction “Our Father in heaven” followed by the seven petitions or request. The first three are addressed to God and are about His character and concerns. [1] “Hallowed be Your name” [2]“Your kingdom come” [3]“Your will be done”. The next four are about man and his physical, relational, mental and spiritual needs. Body - Soul - Spirit. [1]“Give us day by day our daily bread” [2]“And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us” [3]“And do not lead us into temptation” [4]”But deliver us from the evil one”. These are followed by a doxology or a verse of praise to God found in the {Matthew 6:9-13} form. Ending in a Amen expressing our desire and confidence of being heard. So how do we use this model for prayer that Jesus Himself set before us in our own personal and corporate prayer life? Look for Part 2-5
