No cakes for birthday?

Birthdays are celebrated everyday, and it is usually a requirement to have cakes on birthdays..a birthday cake But for our family, we always have fruit salad, macaroni salad or spaghetti (for long life, because of the long strands) whenever there is a birthday. What dish do you always have when there are birthdays?

Talking about birthdays I only wish those who are in my life and not those who remember me only on my birthday and forget my existence rest of the year.

spaghetti here (though i know our parents prefer pancit canton). as time went on, we it was easier to just buy pancit palabok. then ice cream and cake, but as time went on, it was either ice cream or cake, not both. i like both fruit and macaroni salad but we usually have them christmas or new year.

Thats a neat tradition. How did that get started that your family eats fruit salad, macaroni salad and spaghetti? My parents usually buy a pizza and cake and ice cream for us to all share. I prefer to go out to do something for my birthday like go hiking or to dinner.
