Why do people liked COC so much

hi, I used to be a gamer but overtime as I aged I find it awkward for me to play too much as I have so much important things to do than to play. When Clash of Clan became a hit I tried a few times and then give up because I cannot fully understand it. My husband also try to play it just to test why his friends love it so much but he also give up because his eyes hurts by playing it. So my question is what does the COC gives pleasures to its gamer that it almost eats up all their time just to play it. I've known that this game is so popular among Filipino but is this also happening with your countrymen or just us?
