I think that movies do a lot for the American psyche. We are able to leave the stress and strain of our busy lives behind for at least 2 hours. We can be swept into a different time, different planet, different way of life. We can be grabbed with horror, titillated with romance, roll on the floor with laughter with a comedy or even brought to our knees by a sad one. The writers, producers, actors and directors manipulate you for that two hour period. But, oh how we love it. And, if asked, we can share a great one we recently enjoyed.
Some favorites of mine: Murphy's Romance, Penny Serenade, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation, The Gangs of New York, and Schindler's List. There are many more. What are your favorites?

I like a lot of types of movies so it is extremely difficult to pick a favorite or favorites.
I watch many movies also.
I will say I enjoyed recently a movie called The Hunt with Mads Mikkelsen in it.
It was amazingly intriguing.
There are really so many talented producers, writers, directors now.
Movies are an escape for me and I am grateful for them.

Me too. I hate those ones that end so weird and leave me feeling worse than when I started watching it.

I always enjoyed Robin most of the three. Love the older vintage movies. I have cable and several channels show the oldies but goodies.

I havent' watched a movie in months. I'm more for the books but I get what you are saying. It's that escape for reality, but it's not just the American Psyche, it's anyone from anywhere who enjoys a bit of repast.

I used to be an avid reader but the eyes gave out on me. They have this film over them most of the time and it takes work to get it cleared. Yes, they do serve their purpose and that is different for all of us.

I think they are good for us in their way. Get us thinking about other things besides the day-to-day stressers.

I love action movies, so any of the "Mission Impossible" movies to begin with and for a bit of history and treasure hunting, the "National Treasure" movies. And then a movie that can make me laugh is a must. I avoid Horror movies, I need my sleep at night. But, movies are a great escape from real life sometimes.
