Chinese Learning...Yay or Nay?

hey myLot-ians. I was a little confused about me learning Chinese. Should i learn Chinese or not? About an year ago, i started studying German language and i am currently at very basic level of the language. My main focus for learning a language is to get to know the local language of the potential country where i can go for further studies. I have plans (currently only in my head) to go somewhere in Europe during the fall-2016 to summer-2017 for higher education. The main reason for me starting to learn German language was the same too. The reason i thought to learn Chinese was as an alternate option for further studies. Now If i get myself registered in Chinese course (that's being offered at my university) I might be distracting myself from my target. Another point for Chinese is that there are some telecommunication companies in my home-city majority of which are Chinese. So, the language might help me in getting fast promotions in my career. (I am not sure if it'd work or not just a theory in my mind).

That can pay you the richest dividends in, what I'd prefer to call,'language investment', that is-learning a language. With China outpacing America as the biggest economy, needless to say, the scope for this language, surely has no bounds.

@gregario888 yes. that's why i was thinking of learning it. But there are other European languages too that i don't know (e.g. Italian, Spanish, French, Swedish, Finnish etc). They are also quite strong economies themselves.

@rameezrehman408 There may be European languages, but the Chinese language is nothing short of a challenge when it comes to mastering it. It is always worthwhile to pick a challenge, especially when it comes to a language which has the potential to open doors to tremendous opportunities.

Yes, you should take up the course. You can work as a part time tour guide when you have a good command of Mandarin. Chinese is the language that many people know, and many companies are looking for ways to earn money from the Chinese. If possible, learn advanced Chinese, and when you start working, aim to work for a company with a branch in China.
