Corbyn Never Sang The National Anthem - Good For Him

Newly elected UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn seems to be under media attack for every breath he utters as the Tory controlled media are clearly out to bulldoze him and behave as if there is no opposition. His latest gaffe in their eyes was turning up at a war-memorial service looking unkempt with a shirt button undone and visibly not loudly singing along with God Save The Queen. Good for him. Why should Republicans (those who would rather we had no monarchy in Britain, i.e., me and atheists, i.e., me) have to sing along to a hymn in honour of a divine being protecting the monarchy? Many who sing the anthem are hypocrites, as are many attacking Corbyn for a bold, brave disciplined stance here.

This makes sense, if he is a Republican I see no reason why he should sing the anthem.

I don't particularly like the man. Something about him seems creepy and weird. I certainly don't want him in charge of this country. I thought Ed Miliband was bad, but he seems a whole lot worse.

I'm no fan of Corbyn or Labour, but I do quietly respect him for the National Anthem silence and for sticking to his principles. I think he will win a lot of friends for doing that, but he'll have alienated a lot of people too. He's certainly going to be one of the more interesting political leaders that we've had in recent years. He is breaking the mould....

I think Corbyn is basically honest and sincere, and what you see is what you'll get. However, he should have sung the National Anthem for the simple reason that the occasion in question was about honouring people who fought in World War II, and not about Jeremy Corbyn. By being photographed standing silently he turned attention towards himself, which was wrong. I don't think he'll make the same mistake again.

that is a very good point though it was going to be about Corbyn one way or another just for turning up so early in his leadership, but not going would have been worse.
