You cannot watch the thousands and thousands of refugees and migrants pouring into Europe without feeling enormous sadness at their plight, and yet worry for the future of our world as we know it. Everything is changing, and it's all due to power and greed. How will this dreadful situation ever be resolved?
It seems no one knows the answer. I find it hard to believe though that we as a global community cannot create enough change in North African and Middle East Syria that would assure those people they could have a good life in their own countries.

@gudheart I think it's even sadder that we aren't doing more so they can stay happily in their own homes and countries! I don't think the answer is to try and integrate millions of people into other cultures, as they lose their own. Thanks for your support!

At least they are escaping, unlike the millions already killed by the Islamic State all over the Middle East. And although some are true refugees, others are taking advantage of this and they are not true refugees but extremists. I think that we have to approach the problem without excessive emotion and each case needs to be examined. Let's be generous and kind, but also careful and wise. After all, the Boston Marathon Bombers were refugees once, too.

we jest ran outta continents, my friend. restlessness 'n despair sent many a folk on long voyages to populate the world. 's that population continues to grow 'n greed increases, schtuff's jest gonna get worse :( my heart goes out to all who're sufferin' 'n if'n i had a magic wand, i'd wave all those folks responsible fer the hunger, torture 'n senseless killin' to 'nother planet.
one cannot change other countries 'n cultures, always turns out badly.

@crazyhorseladycx It's absolutely awful that in this day and age there are still greedy, horrible despots who are willing to kill their own people, chase them out of their own country because they bomb them and use chemical weapons against them, and leave all other countries to clean up the mess they've caused, without anyone really lifting a finger to get rid of them. And you're right, you can't change other countries and cultures. And ours don't want to change.

It worries me greatly that some people are making absolute fortunes out of the misery of others. Many of the migrants have paid their life savings to people traffickers who have promised to get them to Europe but have then left them to drown in inadequate and overcrowded boats in the Aegean and Mediterranean.
