so i just got an email from capital one listing 4 transactions i did not make on my credit card! most were today, at a tesco store (we don't even have tesco near us), for a total of $1,000.
luckily it seems the major banks/credit card companies are so good with this these days and catch it right away and bring it to your attention. they even allow you to click on the email if it was fraudulent or not. i also called them to confirm and they already cancelled the charges and are sending me a new card asap.
whew! i feel very lucky and fortunate that we now live in a time where this is easily remedied. 5-10 years ago, it may not have been the same case.

it is nice when you have that kind of double checking on things. Mine texts me too, both bank and cc on purchases so I know when things change. I have to wonder how someone in that instance or others who have ran into this, got the stolen card info.

@sprinklesare4winners did they get away with it! like the store just let them charge and walk out, Did they try to fake a signature? was this done online? Prob need to report this, somewhere somehow, and keep a good eye on your credit, just to be sure thats all they got.

I had fraud on my card before too someone tried to get a motel room many states away and bought stuff at nike.com. I did get my money back but still frustrating of what you have to go thru just to say you didn't do it and to get your money back

I had this happen a while back. In my case, it was very small amounts, like they were testing to see if they if they could sneak it by, but the bank caught it. On the other hand, my credit union stopped my card on my back east trip because they couldn't get hold of me, and I had a legitimate charge declined. that was a bit annoying, but fortunately I had another card.

Yeah good that they were able to refuse the charges.
