I see a number people just clicking likes on your comments/posts but they never seem to get into any meaningful interactions. I wonder if this is just with me or the others have also noticed it. How does this help.. I usually go to their profile and check them out and leave a comment or two on their discussion.. but I never see it returned.. I cannot understand this interaction very much though.

Most of the time I comment and I enjoy doing ti. This is a discussion site and not just a nodding site.

Yes, I have noticed this. While I do not appreciate a like to a discussion without a comment, I appreciate if someone likes a reply, because I know that the person has read it.

SGT said it already : a "like" is an interaction. I can like some discussions and responses without responding myself, if I have nothing else to add, when I have appreciated to read the discussion/responses.

@purplealabaster This makes sense to me. I do this on other sites as well. I can't see posting something if you really don't have anything worthwhile to say, but you can still give someone affirmation for their post or response.

@ChesneyM While you agree with topoffers comments.. I am sure you will also consider my response to his comment. Even if I had nothing to add I could always say why I agree with his/views

@marlina No issues there no one can forces others to interact with them. I am okay with that. However, we are talking about a person/s liking all your post but has nothing to say on them.

I've had more people do the opposite - they comment but don't 'like'.

I have that on my own personal discussions, but for responses on other people's discussion, I get a lot of 'likes'.

@jaboUK I agree the reverse happens too at times. Likes on the posts itself would be of great help.. but most of the time they only like the comments.

@Bluedoll As a matter of interest, why aren't you liking the actual posts? That would surely help the poster, as they get into the lists on the basis of both the likes and comments.

Not every post will inspire a response which is prob why most people will stick to their friend's discussions knowing they are people they want to interact with.

@thea09 I have no issues if someone sticks to their friends or cliques. If someone likes all my posts and comments what is stopping them from participating in the discussion is my question .

I will like a comment and or response, and will comment back. I just love interacting with others, as it is so much fun, and after all, I am helping them earn. My earnings are going up faster and faster from all the interaction I have been doing.

I try to like and comment as much as possible. Normally I will only 'like' something if the discussion has ran it's course. But yes, I have noticed like when I correspond on someone else's discussion, an outsider will come in and 'like' all my comments there, without adding anything. It could be due to the fact of what @PhredWreck and @Owlwings mentioned. In a way it makes me feel good about myself, for you know I have a hang up about my writing. So to get the likes makes me feel acknowledge and appreciated. (Yes, it doesn't take much for me)

@sofssu Ok, I am following you now. You have to over look how slow I am, I mean I have to jump start my brain with every comment. Since I am realizing now what you implying, Yes, at times it can be a bit annoying. And I agree, if they would simply add to the discussion (for which the site is), then there would be more discussions to be had without.

@DaddyEvil OH I am terribly sorry, Maybe I missed your response on the thread.. I am usually very particular about responding to all comments on my thread.. However, I haven't been hanging around much these past 4-5 days as I have been having sever headaches and its gets worse the moment I look intently at the laptop screen for more than ten minutes at a time. Which thread was it BTW

@DaddyEvil Give yourself some time to get used to this site. I am sure you'll find your way around faster than you think. Maybe you posted the response under another person's comment .. which could have lead to my assuming that you were actually talking to someone else.

@sofssu UHHH... I'm sorry, but I don't know. I still get lost trying to remember where I said something and where someone else was talking to me... I was lost all afternoon today, trying to find something I had said, I thought it was on one thread and I was somehow missing it. I joined a discussion because I finally decided to go through the thing post by post to find the one I needed/wanted and the one I wanted was on a different thread. Uhm... You realize I may even be mistaken about what thread I was on, right?

@sofssu I attempt to like and comment on most posts. I feel that I can usually find something to say. My method is to get on the site and first go through all my notifications and respond to those who commented on my posts. Then I go through as many discussions as possible and when I'm done I put in new posts and come back the next day.

I know what you mean... but even though they do not leave a comment it is helpful because with their likes the post may stay on the explore page longer... or something... and sometimes I like a post ... but just do not know what to say by way of a comment so just like it....
