Do you enjoy funny discussions, family discussions, pet discussions, work discussions. I am just trying to understand why some discussions have more responses than others . Do you look to see who has written it and if so does that make a difference to you in the discussion you decided to respond to. What does draw you to a discussion? I don't think I have any special reason I just go first to the suggestions and comment on those then I go to explore and see what is there. I can't comment on everything but do as many as I can.

I do discussions that are interesting to me and that I can relate to in some way. I don't respond to ones that I have no interest in whatsover. It really doesn't matter the topic, except for religion and politics, as those can become contorversial and confrontational. I read a lot of discussions before i respond to one that interest me like this one.

Of course if a discussion is not to your liking than by all means do not respond to it.

@Lushlala I have mistakenly responded to a religous discussion, and it was awful, as the persson that started it just wanted to argue as everyone of our opinions to him was wrong. I finally had to blick him, as it got to be to mcuh, and became a very bad experience, and it took all the fun out of it for sure. Now that he is blicked, I don't have to deal with him anymore.

@rosekiss You have the same approach as me :) Religion and politics have a way of getting a little close to the bone.

I do not go through the suggestion, I check all the discussions of those I follow. I do not comment on everything, but if the title is interesting, I read the discussion and I leave a comment.

@TiarasOceanView I also don't really like touchy subjects that may prove explosive, like politics. People can be very precious about their opinions and can lose sight of the fact that theirs is not the only opinion out there. Or the only correct one for that matter.

I struggle to understand why some discussions do better than others too. I think titles can make a big difference, but I'm not always sure what makes a good title either. As far as what I choose to read - on different days I'm in the mood to read different types of things, but I like to read personal posts by people I've been following for some time. When posts are by people I don't know though, I'll probably go for things that are related to my interests on that particular day.

I don't have a preference about the TYPE of post, but personal ones usually get my attention. The reason is because I'm so emotionally closed off it surprises me when people can lay out their hearts to total internet strangers.....WITHOUT being sarcastic lol

I love to respond to any meaningful discussion. I try to respond to those discussions which are suggested by dear friends here on mylot. Needless to say that I can't contribute on each and every topic. Shorter and easier discussions are preferred by me.

@Marcyaz Can we only think about the discussions we like? This one isn't bad. I like discussion when they come easily without much danger of someone going off their rocker. People below are kind of leaning to topics they can relate to. That will make a person more of an authority on a subject. Is that a good way to put it? On the other hand, nice when you can learn something you know very little about. Wait, I need to check the burner on the stove as it smells like something is cooking.

I like a wide variety of discussions. The tittle really is what grabs me tho and when I am suggested it helps me to find them as well, just like this one! Lol I notice that some have more as well and I guess it depends on wht it is about. I never really look to see who posted it until i am on the post in case it is someone that i know so I know who I am talking to.

The most important factor is--Lack of english vocabulary. If i want to respond a post, but when i type the words, i need to look up dictionary, i absolutely will give up why why··· Why i can not speak english like speak chinese, so ····· upset

@Marcyaz,discussions that fall under 'personal' category attract me.One's experiences, feelings, thoughts, their day to day problems etc etc make me say something. And given my problem of lack of time,I generally like the discussion to be short.

What draws me to a discussion is the stuff I can relate to.. And how familiar the subject is to me. But not everytime, indeed. I generally enjoy every kind of discussion, however, I tend to leave out the politics-related ones. Hehe.

Honestly I usually find discussions I can relate to easily, or respond to without a problem. It's not that it's any particular topic, it all really just depends. Some things are just easier for me to respond to. I'm a mom so when people talk about their kids that's something that I get. When people talk about computers or cars, I know very little about those things so I'm less likely to respond. Obviously if it peaks my interest too I'm going to read and respond, but what peaks my interests vary.

This is quite a difficult question because we are all so different in what we like. I suppose a discussion that would do well is one which applies to most people, eating sleeping, day to day routine etc. I notice on a Q & A site I belong to that a question which asks 'How old are you?' or 'What is your favourite colour?' will have many replies but some of the more interesting topics fall by the wayside.

I don't have any specific type of discussions I like. I can pretty much find some kinda way to respond/interact to any discussion if I had a mind to. However.. I will state a simple fact, and this is just me. I tend to respond more to discussions started by people that respond and interact with me on mine. It's a common courtesy, in my mind. If someone can't take the time to acknowledge mine, and it's 'ALL ABOUT THEM', I tend to ignore them entirely. It becomes more a principle of the matter.

@sofssu I am absolutely 100% in agreement with you on this one. Then they wonder why we don't go to their discussions. Pfft. If they took the time to even get a clue they would quickly realize, but they just so stuck on themselves.

@TexanTornado I guess it is normal to respond to those who respond to us. I particularly don't care for those who will interact with you only through your comments on other discussions not your own. I really don't care for such interactions.
