Yesterday, Friday we decided to go in the late afternoon to a larger town to do some grocery shopping.
We went to the Fairway market and bought their sales items and some other items there as they have excellent sales and since our HiVee market in our town is so expensive we prefer to go futher for our groceries and save a few bucks.
While there I decided to stop in this Tractor Supply Company store and look around as they always seem to have things on sale.
Coming out of the store I noticed the sign saying "Pet Adoption Day".
What a great way to show to people the animals that need homes.
To bad I couldn't take on another animal but right now I have my two dogs and two cats and that is plenty for me.
bought
How many of you have ever stopped and looked at the animals they have for sale or even bought one?

Bless your heart for having 4 animals. we got a kitten almost 18 years ago from the adoption place and he had to be put down several months ago it was heart breaking and I still miss him. Star was his name he was all black and had the most amazing eyes. He was SO much fun. Thinking about getting another kitten and start all over. My husband is great with training them. So happy for you and your family. God has blessed you and the animals they are so blessed to be with you.

@Marcyaz I also wept over the loss of Star. And I find myself remembering things about him as I'm cleaning. There used to be all the hairballs LOL. And if I went to spray disinfectant he'd squint his eyes and get ready to run if I got too close to him.

I can't have pets where I live as their not allowed. I do however browse and look at pets wherever i go that have them. Some day if we move I want to get a puppy or cat.

@Blondie2222 It's a shame that you can't have pets. Some people have ruined it for others, irresponsible people! I hope you do find a place that you can have a pet or two. God bless

Hello,
Well I am in the process of adopting a cat from the RPSCA as we speak. Have had my home visit today, and I should get an email from them or call soon (in the next following days) letting me know when I can go an pick up my new adopted cat from the rescue centre. While I am not buying this pet as per say, I will be paying a modest fee to cover some of the expenses with vaccines performed on the animal for welfare reasons.

That is wonderful that you are adopting an older cat as she would not get many people wanting an older cat. Thumbs up to you for adopting her and giving her a good home. She will certainly love you. Tinkerbell what a great name. Good Luck and have fun with the new addition to your family.

We have lots of supermarkets here where I am. I basically have my pick of the litter. As for the pet adoption day, we have a local animal rescue that has adoption drives every once in awhile. Sometimes they will go to the malls or some shopping centers. My mother got her dog through them.

I have no pets at home because of lack of time to look after them. It seems a good idea to adopt pets. Here also some people keep dogs as pets but mainly for security purposes. I sometimes feed street dogs who roam around near our area.

I'm involved with one of the rescues that operates out of PetSmart. I have adopted three of my cats from them, I foster cats, do adoptions and maintain the group's mailer. We find homes for over 600 cats and dogs every year.

I love PetSmart it is where I took my older dog for obidence training and also her baths and nail trimming. They are terrific at that store. I have seen the cats and dogs there and I know the rescues love to go there as many people come in and adopt. I love that you help out there. I have also fostered in the past.

Once when I just got married, we had a few days before well went away after getting married and took a drive out in the countryside. We came to a small village and a sign saying puppies for sale, so we went and looked and four weeks later we had our first new addiction to the family. We divorced 10 years later and the dog my ex wife had until she passed away.

I always rescue my animals. I have the most gorgeous little blind dog who no one wanted. She ate a slug that was contaminated with slug bait and it blinded her. I also have a 17 year old cat who was left on the side of the road with her kitten. I love them both dearly.

That is wonderful that you took in a blind dog not many would do that, I also have a 17 year old cat who I acquired from a neighbor when he was around 4 years old and they wouldn't feed him so I did and when I moved from there he came with me.
I commend you for taking them in and giving them a good home with lots of love.

I have never seen an event like that, I would definitely stop and look at the pets. I have never adopted one because I move very often and pets need stability. I would love to have a dog, I am so excited every time I visit friends with dogs and I play with them all the time.

When I lived in Arizona they had these type of events at PetSmart (pet store) once a month and they had different rescue groups come in and they always seemed to leave with less animals then what they brought in. Some of the rescues don't have much so I always give what I can when I hear one is in trouble moneywise. One time I took in dog food because I heard they were so low and I wanted to help out. Glad to hear even though you have no pet of your own you do play with friends pets.

@Marcyaz Yes I love pets and they seem to like me too. Dogs are great because they have enthusiasm and I can interact more, cats usually ignore me but I am still trying to find the connection.
The people who rescue animals and those who take them in are admirable and it's so nice of you that you have supported them.

@Marcyaz We went by PetSmart today and, as always, I went and looked at the cats and kittens up for adoption. My wife reminded me that we already have two indoor cats and three squatters on our front porch. I told her not to worry. I wasn't going to be adopting any new cats or kittens. We get enough with the strays dropped off in our woods.

We adopted a dog from a shelter once, but that doesn't always turn out as wonderful as you would like it to. Sometimes people drop off their animals with behavioral problems, and you are adopting all that bad training as well as the cuteness. It's hard work sometimes to overcome it.

We used to go to the Humane Society and looked at animals. We just loved animals and liked to see the cats and dogs that were there. Sometimes it was very difficult to leave with out one of them too. We don't go any longer because it is so far away and I don't drive any more.

I have always had a pet(s)--the last were 21 birds but now I can't afford one which would include a $500 pet deposit but I also don't want the responsibility of a dog as much as I love them and a pet is a big responsibility.

Great idea to organise such events for those little munchkins.. So hope they'll find some lovely homes for each one of them.
