My natural hair colour is brunette with red lights. As grey started to appear at a relatively early age, I took to dying it and have always loved the red tones. As anyone who has dyed their hair knows, the shades on the box vary according to your natural colour. As I have recently discovered, the more grey in your hair, the more the dye grabs it.
I dyed my hair yesterday and thought it turned out quite well - until I went out last night. I was washing my hands under a fluorescent light in a ladies' room, looked up to do a quick check of my appearance and was shocked. My hair is SO orange/red, especially where I am greyest for an inch or two at the hairline. I look like a carrot! When I am game enough to leave the house and risk being seen by someone I know, I will buy another box of dye and try to tone the colour down again. Until then, I will be Madam Carrot
Life can be too serious at times and it is good to be able to laugh at ourselves. Given there is safety in numbers, I'd love to hear from anyone else who has made serious mistakes either with their hair or wardrobe malfunctions. I can't be the only one.

Hahahaha, I have felt like that one time when I had my hair dyed. When the color washed off a bit it became orange and I bought another box to change it quick! Those hairdressers didn't know what they were doing. I chose a darker tone to keep it from getting too orangey and had fun with DIY.

@owstalaga It is good to know that the professionals get it wrong sometimes too and it isn't just those of us who dye our own hair at home Still, you pay a hairdresser because they are meant to know what they are doing. I often wonder what my colour looks like at the back of my head and whether I have missed patches.

@MoonHowler17 Haha, I wonder about that too when I dye my hair. But I make sure to just put a lot or more than enough at the back part so I don't miss anything.

We certainly do. Next time, I will choose something a little more subtle.
