Today a couple of my kids wanted me to go with them to Okobiji as they saw on Craigslist some items they wanted to buy. We stopped on the way and had breakfast then continued on into Iowa and followed the directions we were given. Oh did I tell you they had their new trailor hooked up to bring some bigger items home, they bought a couple of hutches, some chairs and loveseats, end tables and a chest of drawers all like new. The people are moving and gave them good prices on all these items. We left my house around 9 am and returned about 1 pm. It was a nice outing and when I came home the first thing I did was let my dogs out. They were so happy to see us.

That wasn't too many hours for all that. And breakfast also. Sounds like ti was a nice day out. Here for me, a day out is a long drawn out stress factory. The traffic alone makes it next to impossible to get out of my block for about 20 minutes.

We live in such a rural setting that the traffic is never heavy like in large towns which makes it easier time wise.

@inertia4 With so little traffic it is a pleasure to go.

@Marcyaz I envy that. That is to a point. I do like the convenience of being able to just walk to stores. I do like having everything around me.

The exact origin and meaning of the name "Okoboji" is unknown but it is most likely derived from the Dakota-language name "Okoboozhy," which means "place of rest," "reeds" or "rushes" (like cattails). It's a Native American word but that is about all we know about it.

It was a nice trip and the people who were selling the furniture had a beautiful home right off the golf course. The dogs were so happy they were kissing us like mad and we really weren't gone all that long.

Not really profitable as they spent a lot of money buying the furniture.

It sounds like you had a nice little outing. If your dogs are like mine, no matter if you just stepped outside the door, they greet you like they haven't seen you in days.

Yep mine are exactly like that and you would have thought I had been gone a week. Regardless I love it when they greet me like that.

@Marcyaz So do I. We put Daisy in her kennel at night and when she gets out in the morning, she is so excited and it's all about kisses. Love it!

Glad they got all new items for good prices. It's nice when you can come across a good buy. I love outings like that but sometimes it can wear you out with all that driving etc.

I used to love to buy furniture. I have gotten some great buys from yard sales down through the years.

You always have nice active trips on the weekends, it's refreshing to go out and spend time with friends and family. The new furniture sound nice, it's great that you were there to give them your opinion.

Thank You, the furniture was underpriced in my opinion. Since the owners hadn't yet sold anything after two weeks they were willing to wheel and deal on everything which made it good for the kids as they were able to buy more than what they went for and all are things they can use.

They certainly were able to get quite a bit for a good deal. Are they redecorating?
