WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER

What is your number, number yes, what is your number?
What is your immigration number, what is your roll number, what is your telephone number, what is your zip code? Do you have a Doss number, do you have a prison inmate number, do you have a Henderson number? Are you numbered like the Jews in a concentration camp, in a Nazi comcentration camp? What is your social security number? What is your FBI number, CIA number, house number, post office box number, area code number?
Hey you, what is your number. How many times in one day do we deal with numbers?
Checking account numbers, area code numbers ,street numbers. When I ask what is your number are you offended as I?
Drivers license number, vehicle identification number, burial plot number.
Numbers are so Big Brother can keep track of you, can keep you under his thumb with only your hands and your feet sticking out as if pressed against a marble slate, under the thumb. The government gave us numbers in the beginning, not for land, for education, for food stamps, for a blanket, for clothes but to keep track of us.
Do we need a number to identify our friends, check it out, take inventory.
They say your days are numbered, days are not numbered. You are given a time upon this Earth which is God's time. He creates you and puts you on this Earth as the rest of the creatures of this Earth, the sky, the waters. He does not set his alarm clock as to when to call you to the other side ,it is when he wants you, when he needs you. .
Don't you realize numbers make you a prisoner.

I am one of those who is fascinated by numbers and can enter them in spreadsheets any time of the day or night. I also have difficulty remembering them when they have anything to do with identifying me. My National Insurance number or my phone number or my Insurance Policy number are not ME and I have to look them up every single time I'm asked for them!
Having read through this discussion, I do find that my brain is number than it was before ... I wonder how your engine feels?

I never looked at numbers that way and I still don't see it that way! Numbers help me celebrate my 20th birthday Monday, February 29, 2016--all great numbers!

Yes, you are right that every stage and phase of life, we need to remember our numbers and the areas where we are required to identify ourselves through numbers, are in large numbers. I think, allotting us a number makes a process easier rather than identifying us through any other method. I need to remember my Bank Account Number, Credit Card Number, Voter Identity Card Number and Permanent Account Number (meant for paying Income Tax), mobile numbers of friends/relatives and Employee number, Car Number and bike number etc., the list is endless.

Numbers. I guess we do need them to keep track of many things in our life. And the government gives us numbers. Everyone on this planet is a number. That's why people could care less about government anymore. We are just a number to them. Nothing more. If the numbers are not productive they want to eliminate those numbers. The universe does not have an alarm clock. Never did and never will.

Realizing is one thing, acting upon it is another. Even so we are labelled with millions of numbers for everything. Paying a hospital bill? You have an account number, waiting on the phone inline of others? Yup you've got a number there too.
When did it become such a "Normal" thing is the real question, and why did we let it.

So bad, that the government would like you to treat you like a statistic, and not a human being. We seem to be living in a big prison state, profiling has become a norm, rather than an exception.

@Marcyaz Yes marcyaz, this type of profiling is done by the scruff of the neck. You are not left with any recourse to avoid it, or get back your details, in case you do not wish to remain part of that process.

So our government wants us to have something like your SSN and the only purpose, as I see it, is to give us a number! They even say (cheerfully) you'll be identified by a number - ah so great, that was my ultimate dream
So far I have declined... but they are trying to twist our arms by making it mandatory every-so-where. Unsuccessfully.
Reminds me of a novel I never read - 1084 ki Maa ; Mother of (prisoner number) 1084.

In doing some research into social security a while back I found out that our social security numbers were not designed as an identity proof and that we should not be asked or compelled to show our social security card for the purpose of identifying ourselves. Yet all companies, even government agencies require that we show that as one of our proofs of identity. The government won't even obey their own rules.

I've never been a fan of numbers although I can remember them well. But like you said we deal with them all the time. Sometimes I wish there's one special code that serves as a unique identification for each one of us so we don't have to deal with too many. Wishful thinking I know
