Do you wear shoes in your home or go barefoot? Do you make your guest take off shoes?

We wear shoes in the house, my feet hurt with out some type of shoe or slipper on. We do not require guests to take off shoes.
I have been to homes were they want you to take off your shoes and will ask you , so I avoid going to those home. My feet hurt way to much and it isn't going to happen, I hate shoe rules.
What are the rules in your home with shoes?

We don't have rules really about shoes. We usually wear flip flops or slippers in home, but have worn shoes. We don't expect our guests to take their shoes off, unless they want to of course. Slippers and flip flops seem more comfortable than shoes in my opinion. I don't like to go barefoot/without shoes as I am afraid my feet/socks will get all dirty.

I don't have set any rules in my home concerning shoes. I live with my brother and he won't follow them anyway. But I like walking barefoot on other houses, I find it relaxing and sometimes I take my shoes off without being asked. It helps when they have fluffy soft rugs on the floor. If your feet hurt then you should keep your shoes on.

When I had cream coloured carpets I did ask guests to take their shoes off. People didn't like that very much! So, now I have dark grey carpets. Guests shoes can stay on - I'm usually barefoot!
