I am back to my virtual world, after two busy days due to the guests who attended our Sunday lunch.
I am glad that, despite my fears, the lunch has been a success.
The wife of our friend has appreciated everything I prepared, it has been a great and pleasant surprise.
My friends brought as gift the beautiful purple orchid that you can see in the picture.
I have no experience of potted orchids, I do not even know the proper frequency of watering and if they need a sunny spot or shade.
I am going to search online, but if you have some tips to share I will be glad to learn from you.

@Tampa_girl7 @rebelann I am sorry that I missed to reply to this comment. My orchid is still alive and it bloomed again the past Spring.

It is awesome. Though I do not have any experience in this and I can't really give you tips, I believe we all should stop those bouquet gifts, and opt to give a living plant instead as I am concerned about population of bees. One more thing, I could not understand "...I waited for a Sunday lunch". I have never come across such expression so far. At first I thought that should have been "at", but it was still a bit unusual for me.

OH wow lucky you.. I love orchids. Since I live in a tropical climate I water every other day. I feed my plants every other week. I mist them lightly almost every day during the hottest part of the day. I keep mine on a sunny window.. but not under the direct sun.

@LadyDuck You have resources right near you. May be he will let you into his secret sometime. They are slightly fussy plants but worth all the trouble. The flowers last and last for months and I have one which keeps putting out five or six stalks of flowers. Its amazing.,

Good Morning Anna - I am pleased your Sunday went well - now I find myself in the kitchen getting ready for the BRITISH Ballet examiner to arrive tonight - Examine Ballet tomorrow and I must feed her all kinds of goodies - 5 meals altogether.

Orchids are not the easiest plants but I think you need to avoid over watering. It is a beautiful plant that is for sure.

They're very pretty! And the vase matches the color of the orchids, too. I don't have orchids myself, but most of the species that I've read about require partial sunlight. You can look up more information about orchid care tips online, there are so many resources.

What a lovely thoughtful gift for you. I usually buy my wife orchids as she likes them so much. I do have one tip for you Anna. Never let me look after them for you as I forget to water them if you were on holiday. Although I might remember the day before you get back?

I'm glad it all turned out well in the end and she enjoyed your meal and i'm sure the company also. Love the orchid, I never had them either so I know nothing about them.

I truly like the idea of giving plants as gifts rather than flowers which are thrown away. You must search the Net and I am sure you will know how to tend this beautiful orchid.

I'm really glad that everything went well with the meal, I know how worried you were.
That's a lovely orchid, but I don't know anything about them. Someone gave me one once, and I chucked it out once the flowers were done. Apparently I should have kept it as it would flower again.
