How To Wake Up Without Caffeine

I have recently discovered that caffeine gives me really bad headaches so I have had to stop drinking red bull and coffee in the mornings and at work. However I am finding it really hard to find other methods to keep my mind awake and alert at work. Any suggestions?

A cup of coffee in the morning is a healthy thing. But drinking Red Bull, too? Very bad. The headache is because you are overloading yourself, you can get serious medical problems from too much caffeine. I suggest you have a normal one or two cups of coffee, give up the Red Bull or any other energy drinks. You can actually suffer a kind of excess tiredness from too much caffeine. The body increases the number of adenosine receptors if the caffeine levels go too high and you end up feeling groggy again despite your intake.
Sixty years of intermittent worry and warnings about the deleterious effects of coffee have had some effect on consumption. Over the last 30 years, Americans...

I don't drink them together! I was drinking a cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes a red bull late a work. Not much.

Maybe you could have a lighter decoction or drink the coffee with milk, and gradually wean it off. Coffee is addictive and you tend to develop dependence. I don't know much about energy drinks. Never had any. So wouldn't know about them.

I did not not have many though, one or two cups a day. So I did not find it addictive.

It would be better to try green tea instead of coffee.it is very healthy plus it also helps to keep fresh .rather than making coffee a habit , try consuming some natural products, black tea would also work .Red bull should not be taken on a regular basis.try to avoid it as much as possible, instead have roasted grain beverages which are common substitutes for coffee.

It' not stange that you could not keep you awake at work for you relied a lot on caffeine before. It's just like the symptons a smoker has when he tries to give up smoking. But don't worry, in the short run you could try to drink tea, which is less irritative. In the long run, you could try to adjust your timetable so that your body will gradually adapt itself to the new condition.

I would not say I relied on it as such, as only had two cups a day.

I know what a hard one, I love coffee and can drink it all the time. I recent month I pull back from coffee and little and started drink water and green tea although I know that doesn't help you. I hope you find a method that suits you.

A friend of mine says that eating an apple in the morning wakes her up, she read that somewhere and tried it and says it works for her. Personally I need a cup of coffee, but I do not drink red bull at all.

I could never drink those drinks like Red Bull. I can drink my fav Dr. Pepper and I like an occasional coffee too. But the RB isn't good at all. Too much caffeine or some other chemical.

Three months ago I realized I did not like the taste of pepsi anymore. So I just quit drinking all caffeine and I feel a lot better.

Hi! I am a coffee drinker for several years now, often gulping down 5 to 6 mugs of coffee a day. I have experienced a general feeling of weakness and some mild headaches on days when I can't drink coffee but I guess, it's just my body's natural reaction to the abrupt abstinence. I really think that your headache is not cause by the coffee per se but it is due to the odd mix of red bull and coffee. I don't think it's a healthy combination and it would do you good to completely stop the practice. Nonetheless, you can gradually withdraw from coffee if you feel that it's not doing your body any good. You can opt for black tea or do some zumba to energize you.

Zumba looks like that will tire me out!

A few people in my WhatsApp group were just talking about virgin coconut oil in the group today. It's supposed to be good in boosting energy or something. Never tried it myself though.

if you wait a few weeks you should feel less tired than when your body was still used to caffeine. every once in a while i swear off coffee for a few weeks so that my tolerance goes down when i start drinking again haha so you should balance out and get used to it soon.

I have had health problems with coffee, and I replaced my morning coffee by a morning black tea to have still the little dose of caffeine that I need to awake me.

I can suggest tea, it contains less caffeine and it's easier on the stomach as well. Some people wake up with orange juice and fruits because they fill up with energy. I can't wake up without coffee either so I am not sure if you can fully replace it.

I need to get off the coffee too,, Luckily I can just decide to go off it and do it. I usually do not have any problems in that area.

Hi Gud, It is great to see you over here. I just joined this weekend and still groping around in the dark. I can't function without my caffeine seeped diet soda and would love some suggestions too. Drinking water just does not do it.
