What a hoot and I promise I'm not making this one up. The United Nations have just appointed a new country to head up its human rights watch. Any guesses as to who that could be?
Here's a clue, they are so clued up on human rights that they shroud all their women in compulsory black garb from head to toes and ban them from driving. That's right, the new experts on human rights are the head choppers from Saudi Arabia, really. Of course the block vote of all the 57 nations in the OIC probably had something to do with them gaining this prestigious appointment.
So next time you hear the UN lecturing on human rights settle down for a good giggle at the sheer hypocrisy human rights has turned into.

Not surprising. Iran has been a member of the UN Human Rights commission. And my president reported one of our US states to the UN Human Rights council for censure. It's all a joke. The UN is not serving the cause of human rights, liberty or even basic peace.

This would be funny, if it was not so horrible. You forgot to mention that those shrouds are usually black, and the sun always shines there.

@thea09 Right, read right over that. I met a man on a boat ride on the Seine once. It was August. His "wife" was there, but was not allowed to talk to me. The man and I were dressed in t-shirts and shorts, but she had on black wool from heat to toe. A very interesting discussion took place. He said he honored her. I said she was probably very hot, sweaty and uncomfortable under all that black wool cloth.

well that is laughable - now there was a serious Hajj stampede today - At least 717 killed in Saudi Arabia as they dashed for the stone throwing ceremony in Mecca - I rest my case - and they want to appoint this country to head up Human rights??

Had to read your take on this. My take is that finally 57 nations have come together and agreed that the UN is a joke. Reckon they needed a laugh too.
Idiocy runs rampant.

Most things like this seem to be good for a laugh.
