Do You Still Play With Colouring Books?

A radio talk show is making a big deal about the number of adults who are buying and using colouring books, for themselves, and not for children. This is putting some such books on the best-seller lists. Why not? I wouldn’t buy a colouring book, but presented with one I would still happily use it. The sense of nostalgia and relaxation makes it seem quite appealing to me.

One of my great pleasures when I worked in a preschool was coloring activities with the students as well as designing and making things that I colored. I used coloring pencils a lot. I look forward to doing some later this year.

Being a parent or teacher is the perfect excuse for using colouring books. Not having children or teaching doesn't stop me though.

@arthurchappell I would love to relax and draw in a coloring book. Problem is that the coloring books for children here in Latvia are not of very good quality and much to thin for the money. However I do like to find coloring pages online and I use those at times.

Oh, yes, there are adult coloring books too. I don't mean "naughty" ones (although they might have those too). I mean the ones with really intricate designs and stuff that take some effort to color. I mostly color with the grandkids, but even on your own, I say, why not? It's relaxing and fun.

I find it relaxing, too, though I don't get to do it very often. Like @Lady_Justice said, there are coloring books for adults, too, but they tend to be expensive.

@xstitcher I got one for my birthday a few months back - too nice to actually colour it in

I found some websites where you can download free coloring pages for adults. I'd love to do that, I think it's a good mind therapy.

I imagine that colouring can be very relaxing and therapeutic for adults, though I don't do it myself.Yet. Perhaps when I am older. I understand that it is most effective when your tongue is poking out of the corner of your mouth...
