I thought for my first article on here I should write a little about myself. I am Gary and live in the UK. I have come across a few people who wrote on other writing sites. Some sites I have written for in the past include consumer sites and travel sites. One of my pleasures is travelling so I particularly like writing about places I have been to and seen.
Quite a few years ago my mother told me she regretted never having travelled outside of the country because my father did not wish to go. I did manage to take them with me to France and Germany one year in fact it was the year before she died. There was one place she wanted to go and I vowed I would visit there one day on her behalf. I still have to go there but hopefully one day I will do that for her.
My other special thing in my life is my beautiful daughter and my two grandchildren whom I adore. I am rather mischievous in as much as I tease them terribly. I am often told off by my daughter but my grand daughter loves it and encourages me. Hopefully she will pick up my trait. Actually I think she already has done and tries to tease me back.
I said in my bio that I am perhaps odd in that I love the job I do. I meet so many people and although they are terribly ill when I meet them there is nothing better than being part of a team that helps the patient recover, get well and go home again.
Did you enjoy your work?

@MALUSE I wish all teachers had the same enthusiasm and vision like you did. I bet your pupils will never forget you.

It is great to know you Gary! Looks like you are a gregarious person. I myself am a gregario, so we may have something in common. Take care and have a great day.

Hi Gary, it is great to have you here. Except a couple of years, when I was young, I have worked with my husband all my life. I liked to work with him, but to be honest I never liked so much his financial job. I would have loved to be an interior designer.

As you are already aware Gary I am retired now and have been for over a year. I love the idea of having no such commitments and the time to do as I please, although I have to confess that I really enjoyed the job that I was doing previously.
I would suspect that we shared this love of employment due to the attitude by which we approached it. If a person treats employment as a means of income alone, then it follows that it will simply become a burden. In my case I took my role at work very conscientiously and always tried to ensure that whatever was required was done proficiently. I would even adopt duties that were not mine, but I recognised were important and nobody was bothering to do. This definitely added a challenge and sense of achievement, making the job very worthwhile.
Judging by much of what you have stated in the past, I feel confident that you have the same approach to work.

Absolutely you are spot on. there. I can imagine you were very good at your job and you paid it good attention. Now hopefully you are reaping the rewards of all your hard work and enjoying your retirement. It is great that you get out and about like you do and hopefully it will keep you amused during your retirement time.
It is quite a shock for many who retire suddenly finding that they have nothing to fill there days but I can sense you get a lot of pleasure out of your trips abroad. I intend to do what you are doing. Oops I forgot... I already am! LOL.

Hi Gary, thanks for the bio I feel I know you a little bit more now. I have had many jobs but the best one was my last one where I was a Social Worker for 20 years. I loved that position so much, it certainly wasn't just a job to me

i bet'cha yer quite the handful, my friend! i mean that in the best 'f ways! i hope ya make that trek fer yer momma 's well. so glad ya'd the opportunity to take 'em to france 'n germany 'fore her passin' - no doubt that meant so much to her.
i can see how yer job is so rewardin' to ya. i did a stint in the medical profession 'n found i grew too attached to all i encountered 'n those that passed tore holes in my heart.
i did enjoy the cattle 'n horses though 'n hope to be able to get back to 'em permanently soon.

Hi Gary, nice to meet you. I am too a new member here. Though I must say that I am jealous of your ability to travel for I am still at college and even at holidays, I am stuck here, but don't let my negativity drag you down.
