How does a father feel about the birth of his first child?

When I first saw my daughter outside the labour room rapped in a towel sleeping peacefully, I thought that that was the most wonderful gift I received on my birthday (Yes, the birthdays are same). But at the same time, it occurred to me that a tremendous responsibility had been bestowed on me! Please share your experience.

I should imagine it feels wonderful for the father as well as the Mother. Not an experience I have had and at 53, perhaps unlikely for me now. Congratulations. Amazing that you share your birthdays.

Wow, that's nice because you got the same birthday . It is indeed like the most wonderful gift to you that day , so i can understand the feeling . My husband was so happy when our daughter was born too . He would come home early from work just to be able to cuddle and take care of the baby , when our daughter was just a baby and even while she was growing up . He loves her very much until now that she's a near 25 year old lady .

My daughter and myself share same birth date (30th October), same birth day(Monday) and same blood group (A+ve). She is now approaching 15.

Being a parent is the most wonderful experience. Mine are in their 40s now and I still love them to bits.
