Those were my purchases during my IKEA shopping trip last week. I went along with my husband who was looking for some cabinets. He ended up filing his van with a whole set of wardrobe cabinets and some chairs. Still, he said he'd come back again on a later day for some others things he wanted.
Except for the food, those goodies I got were on sale. The bath towels and single blankets were only $5 each - I'd say it's a pretty good price and I loved the bright colors. We ate lunch (smoked salmon sandwiches) at the store's food hall and bought the frozen packs of Swedish pancakes plus cinnamon buns from the IKEA market.
It's hard to make going to IKEA as a quick shopping trip. It's more like a whole day excursion. It's also a family-friendly place. There's a supervised playroom available for kids while parents are exploring the path through the store's different departments and fully-furnished showrooms.

I visited Ikea about 15 years ago and the pain of the visited was lost in time. I returned about two years ago with my wife and suddenly the horror of the visit came rushing back. I hate Ikea. I told her to take her time and I would meet her outside. OH MY GOODNESS she came out two and a half hours later. When I said take your time I meant 20 minutes or so! I will never ever set foot in Ikea as long as I have breath in my body! Bravo to you though!

I usually hate shopping, but sometimes it is fun, especially when we can look through a bunch of sale or clearance items and get some great deals on things that we need or really want and otherwise would not be able to afford.

@sishy7 I hate it when they do that. I make a list and figure out prices and try to make the lists match up with the sales, etc. Then the husband and/or child comes along and starts putting stuff in the cart when my back is turned, and by the time we get to the checkout I have no idea why the bill is so high or how half the stuff ended up in our cart!

Sounds a lot like one my day trips like on Sunday when we went to South Dakota and my kids bought all that furniture at such a good price. On the way there we stopped and had breakfast at a nice restaurant. Good for you sounds like a nice trip.

Yeah, they set up the restaurant as part of the store to 'keep' people inside the building. I imagine people who are not done shopping but get hungry, they'd just grab something to eat at the food hall then continue with their shopping expedition.

I love browsing around IKEA whenever we can get around to going there (the closest one to us is in Burbank). I seriously have to stop myself from buying up everything - yah, a lot of things are priced quite nicely. The kids haven't gone into that playroom yet - ahem, um, they've made a playroom out of the entire store - ha ha!

I hate shopping for that reason because it can take forever deciding what you want and how to get the most bang for your buck.

We make lists but land up with sometimes what is not in the list or we add more after seeing what is there hanging out.

I go there regularly; spent thousands & did the whole lot myself. It takes 1.5 hours to get to the only store in town, but it's Much cheaper than getting it delivered & packed (they get it wrong every time!). Their food is rubbish. I can't believe the good people of Sweden eat that stuff. I reckon they'd be embarrassed if ever they visited here! They did however introduce a new vegan option to their monthly menu!

I like browsing in the soft furnishings, and home decor ... the same department where you got your goodies from....
