how many hours of sleep do you need per night? it varies for everyone. i feel like im my best at 6-7 hours. sometimes if i sleep for too long, it makes me even more tired.
sometimes no matter how many hours of sleep i do or dont get, i still feel exhausted. this doesnt happen to me during the weekends when i wake up naturally without an alarm clock, so i think for me its best if i just let my body wake up on its own. although hardly ever possible.
i wish i could set an internal alarm clock!

@sprinklesare4winners Yes, I have tried it before and it never really worked for me. Ever since I went through menopause, I have had a hard time sleeping. Now with RA, I can't sleep because of pain.

It has been a long time since I took a day nap. With kids at home, all I want to do when they nap is catch up on all the things I couldn't do while they're awake.

I don't use an alarm clock as my body automatically wakes up around 8am. I need atleast 8 hours of sleep in order to function. Sometimes I still feel exhausted if i get 8 hours but i do toss and turn alot so that doesn't help either. I did finally get sleep last night.

they used to say you need 8 now I think they increased it. If I get 5 or 6 that's a lot.

I try to get at least 7 hours a night. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, Even when I get that much, I am still sleepy during the day, and that is so frustrating, as that is the time when I want to stay awake. It could be my age, I suppose since I am in my 60's. Maybe someday, I won't have to worry about falling asleep during the day.

I usually end up sleeping about 3-6 hours per day due to busy schedules.

Personally speaking, I usually sleep about six hours per night on weekdays and about seven hours per night at weekends. Sometimes I try to sleep eight or nine hours at weekends but often fail to do so. I guess the reason is that the body alarm works. I think we don't need to worry that we sleep too little. The only thing we should do is follow the sign of body alarm. Go to bed when feeling sleepy.

6-7 for me. I get a headache when I oversleep. Plus I'm a morning person so I make sure I get enough sleep, otherwise I won't feel fresh in the morning.

As a college student I only sleep for 5 hours that's the maximum hours of my sleep because I'm too busy in doing a lot of assignments and reports.

Sleep requirements vary according to age. infants sleep from 14-17 hours! Toddlers upto 12 hours, but under no circumstance should your sleeping hours at any age fall below 6-7 hours ( although 8 hours would be the best for you ). I know sleep is a luxury for some, specially in nations like U.S. and India where working hours are long and job-dependent, still sleeping not only has psychological benefits but also physiological. Sleep is also one of the most researched aspect of human body and behaviour and that fact should make everyone realize how important it is to sleep. It is to your mind, what water is to your body- detoxing, refreshing and revitalizing.
