Keeping Score

Some people are very competitive. They must keep score on everything. I am not that way. When we learned new family games at home, we worked together. I am a team worker. It turns out that working together here, on myLot is best accomplished as a team. I cannot post and post and worry about me and expect to make any progress in my bank. I need to be concerned about "you." I need to interact on your posts and you will in turn interact on mine. Yes, I need to put something up for you to interact with. Yes, I need to acknowledge you and read what you write. If I was just going on this month, I would not make payout. I would be about half way there. BUT I am rich in friends and connections. Numbers are just tools to express activity. Earnings is a way of scoring ourselves. I am going to rest a little while, and pack some, but I think today will be a day when I do a lot here.

I do agree that everyone working togehter is what makes a good team. We have to be active on others posts, and they will be active on ours. I really do like that concept, as it is one of the best ideas that mylot could come up with. The old mylot wasn't as good as it is now, as far as discussions is concerned. I love the interactions, as that is where the teamwork comes in. You comment on my post, and I comment on yours. I am having a blast doing so.

There is a lot of good interaction and you can tell people are having fun. There are things I miss about the old myLot, but this is fun for all of us.

@rosekiss If we spend all of our time worrying about what we do not have, we do not enjoy the present.

@GardenGerty There are a few things that I miss too, but the fact that mylot has instituted the interaction, has really made it better, and I don't even worry about what the site has and what it doesn't have.

The way we connect here is what I have missed at other sites. I tend to get really involved here.

@kevin1877uk I was never sure if I liked myLot best because it was my first forum site, or if we have just a special quality of members and style of interacting. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

You are in the middle of a move, so your time is limited. I am sure that once you get settled in your myLot time will increase a bit so you can do all the interaction you want to do now but can't.

I just love keeping an eye on your number here - it breaks the 60k mark now! Soon you'll catch up with Hatley's 80+k

When the site was set up differently you could tell that @hatley was the top user and I was #2. If @PhredWreck did not keep changing his name and ID he would probably be ahead of us all. I love myLot and I really want it to succeed.

@PhredWreck I had not wrapped my brain around it really. I am a bad score keeper on that account. I hardly ever look at that number unless I am checking a new connection.

I have learned that we all need each other and to read and interact as well as post for the best results. Its fun on this site, I'm just not the greatest at both posting as well as reading and interacting.

Right now if I post three times a day that is a lot. Two is what I average, but I only managed once yesterday due to timing out. My guess is that the timing out is something on my end and not the site so much, except it is busier later in the day.

@Juliaacv You are so welcome. Yes, you will see seasonal differences in how people interact here. If we have other things we can only enjoy on certain occasions, of course we should be doing those things. MyLot is always here for those other times.

@GardenGerty I have not been able to post more then once a day here yet. I will hopefully work up to it but I've been enjoying the outdoor weather lately as that will come to an end soon enough. I do enjoy the interactions and could spend hours here just reading, commenting and never posting myself. I love these discussions and I have to tell you thanks again for leading me over!

@GardenGerty They are indeed. We need to focus more on what is important and weed out the other stuff that bogs us down.

Yes, you are very right that while interacting we gain knowledge and we make new friends and it is a kind of team work. We gain new experiences here and we broaden our vision. We get to know whether other mylotters think in the same manner as we do and whether they react like us in a particular situation. We get to know about different traditions and cultures through discussions. Our earnings are incentives besides all the above benefits we get from mylot.

Growing up with big brothers I learned to be a bit of a scorekeeper, but I don't think I carry it to extremes, and when playing team sports, for example, I always put the team first. Now that you mention it, myLot is sort of like a team sport! I never thought of it that way before. Well, I love myLot but will not be able to hang out here as much as I used to but at least the mechanical problems I was having getting on here for the last few weeks seem to be clearing up. Yayy!

I am thinking the mechanical problems, at least for me, have to do with how much traffic is on the site or on my isp. I have been trying to get here to your comment for two days.

@GardenGerty So then I am not the only one! I changed from my beloved Firefox to the new Edge browser and now it works a lot better, but although I can read and comment from my smart phone, the write option is covered up with something, so I cannot post from the phone. BUMMER!

That's what I've heard from a former lamb who conducted a "test" of sorts on one of his discussions and he relayed what he learned from that. That's how it should be, although I can't promise how good I'll be at it since I'm only just now getting back in the game. But, I'm definitely going to try!!

I am so looking forward to having more time to catch up. I do read your facebook posts. You have a life going on away from here, and the rest of us should as well. That gives us stuff to write about here.

Very well put and I would not have said it better myself either. Have you moved by now and got everything done that you needed to do? Hope so as you were doing some work on a room or two rooms if I remember. Having trouble finding others around here.

I agree. These kinds of sites are all based on interaction. Some sites like this give limits to how many posts one could make in a day. But lets be real here, how many posts can a human make anyway. The other sites I know of and am part of are similar. One site has a 10 post minimum the other has a 15 post minimum. Who cares. I never posted that many in one day anyway. But the reality here is that interaction is the key. Yes we need to post so others have something to respond to. It is a team effort.

Once upon a time in the myLot of old, I did a few posting experiments. It was easier then to tell what action would earn a penny. I posted eighteen discussions in one day here. No interaction. The next day I spent responding to same discussions. I do not remember what the end result was, other than I decided I should always mix it up and do both. And never eighteen again.

It can never be just "all about me" or you will lose the interest of your followers. I keep losing other things so I certainly do not want to do that.

There is an appropriate place for competition, but I do not think it is here. I like the cooperation here, as well as the interaction.

Yes it is nice to have friends that you can rely on and work together with. I had several friends here at myLot and on Gather that all transferred over to Bubblews and now back again here at myLot again. I enjoy keeping up with my friends and their lives.

I used to keep score and have grudge. but these days I just want some things in life to pass by. I have no interest in pity drama. and also some of the time people are not that worth spending time over either. so I make sure that I spend the time wisely and let people work on their own stuff. These days the less I keep score and less pay attention to people i feel better.

Couldn't agree more. I don't understand why people would want to post tons of discussions per day but refuse to actively participate in other people's discussions.
